From the best selling author of Legend of the Dawn and a dozen other works of historical fiction, comes another slice of America's past. Like J.R. Wright's other novels, The DRAKE BOYS is assured to charm, tantalize and shock as he takes you on a wild ride through the Great Depression. But then what would that era be if not for prohibition, bootleggers, and gangsters.
The Drakes were a family that did what was needed to survive on the high plains, when all else has failed. Enter Fritzie Palmer, in pursuit of the youngest Drake and you have a real Bonnie and Clyde romance.
Love, danger, charity and good old American courage, you won't be disappointed with this one.
J.R.Wright was born on a sand hill farm in Oklahoma and presently resides in Texas. To date J.R. has written ten novels including the bestselling LEGEND of the DAWN trilogy.
Step back in time to the late 1920's. Things were different then and the author brings that time alive in this novel. The Drake family during the great depression learns ro survive doing whatever they can for money. Fritzie Palmer gets involved with the youngest Drake boy and readers are the ones who get to enjoy the tail of bootlegging, gangsters and just surviving a rough time in history. The author does a great job telling this story and a big hint, read the info at the end of this book for an amazing after thought. Warning to some readers, their is sexual content and violence, but that also is a part of history.
This book took what promised to be a decent plot then sadly turned it into a soft porn/gangster tale, coupled with the fact that it was so riddled with misspellings and typographical errors that my mind hurt. The author has promise, and the talent is there, but reading this was painful at times.
