This autobiography describes the author's flight from Vienna only one step ahead of the Nazis (in 1938) with only $20 in her pocket; her attempts in New York to revive the singing career she had left behind in Vienna; her ongoing friendship with Eleanor Roosevelt (who later became Shedd's daughter's godmother). She describes her many visits to the White House, her 40-year career in journalism, as a feature writer for the now-defunct 'Wilmington Sunday Star' and as a radio journalist. She produced both news and musical programs for the airwaves. She expanded her activities to include travel journalism, visiting almost every European country; she had the opportunity to interview many famous people in the worlds of science, politics, art and music which she presented on her radio program 'Spotlight on Success.'
