All David craved in his childhood was the love and acceptance his parents would not give him. Their denial of affection festered in him, and bitterness and darkness grew until it consumed him. Shadowy secrets, manipulation and cruelty become the weapons of his vengeful nature. Control of a vast financial empire finally gives him the power he long coveted. Marty, a stunning femme fatale with a provocative tattoo reenters David's life. Her insatiable dark urges for male attention lead her astray from respectability and love with a good man. Through their twisted psychological attraction David and Marty discover they enjoy mutual sinister thoughts. Marty attempts respectability. She sets her eye and heart on a loving man who offers normalcy, but her wanton hunger keeps luring her to return to the depths of depravity. Another woman holds a prior claim on her love interest and simmering jealousies threaten to flare into open hostility. Marty is determined to destroy her. She commits herself to do the unthinkable to win her man. Controlled by the Devil in her DNA, Marty savors flashbacks to her iniquitous seductions of her teacher and other lovers. Conflicting inner voices wrack her emotions leaving her helplessly catatonic and crying. Her roiled feelings reach a shocking climax when David cleverly makes a spellbinding offer packaged with an irresistibly delicious choice. Escape from torment is within her grasp, or she may choose to reach for everything and risk upending her world. THE SECRET AND THE BUTTERFLY analogizes the birth and growth of corporate evil to the egg and pupa stage of a butterfly. The butterfly's egg and the milkweed upon which the emergent caterpillar feeds are both products of their parents. Evil's growth phase occurs stealthily, ever gathering strength and momentum. The chrysalis stage of evil takes place opaquely to its enablers, keeping its true intentions well disguised. The lives of Marvin, Susan, David, and Marty are the story's eggs, caterpillars, and fully fledged butterflies. Bob, the firm's employees, its sales agents, clients, and collateral victims are David and Marty's enabling milkweed leaves. The plot's first murders occur inside the transformative opaque cocoon of the firm, and all evidence of the macabre events escapes detection. Ultimately the mature evildoers emerge from their confining cocoons in full regalia, mesmerize their innocent victims, and consume their souls. THE SECRET AND THE BUTTERFLY will speak to your heart, absorb your soul and cause your thoughts to flutter in wonderment

The Secret and the Butterfly is an out of the box original story that left me with no words. So instead of failing at trying to describe what I just read, I'll just attempt to describe my feelings. I'm usually down to try and read whatever, but I've been taken way out of my comfort zone. It wasn't easy keeping up, as there's A LOT going on with A LOT of people involved. But I can honestly say that I wasn't, not once, bored, or finding myself glossing over parts. Rosemary Ness Bitner has a very talented, and HIGHLY ORIGINAL writing style that will never ever be duplicated, that's for sure! The story is very erotic, and dirty, so gird your loins, and protect your panties! I'm very intrigued to see what she comes out with next, as I know without a shadow of a doubt, that it will be a hell of a ride. So while I'm HIGHLY RECOMMENDING this insane journey, I will end with this thought, I'll NEVER look at butterflies the same way again!
What an intrigung introduction to an author. This book appealed to me because of the dark psychological nature that each character displayed. They are all searching for something that they believe to be unattainable. The depth and complexity of each character and their storylines are what kept me glued to this book. Ms Ness-Bitner's erotic scenes are just that, highly erotic and steamy. So if you don't like this type of reading, then I woudn't recommend it to you. There are numerous triggers when reading this book - so tread lightly. The flow of the book made it an easy and, might I say, enoyable one too. There was a definite conclusion at the end so you are not left hanging. It will be interesting to see what Ms Ness-Bitner comes up with next.
We all have our go to author and genre, we have a pattern or style if you like and every now and then the universe decides to smile upon you and you're blown away by a read this was one of those happy moments !!!! An epic , blow you away 5 star read!!!
The characters have a dark side and damn girl I needed to mop myself off the floor a few times !!!! Erotic and steamy , are 2 words that just don't seem to do it justice.
There's alot happening and you feel like a spinning top at times but I assure you ,you won't be bored or tire .
Nervous to get into the characters because I know I'll just get carried away and we don't want that now do we ?!
Do yourself a favour and treat no spoil yourself to The Secret Butterfly.
My Review of The Secret and the Butterfly by Rosemary Lightfoot Ness-Bitner My Rating 4 stars What a Read! This is a very intense story and it was very different from what I’m used to reading. I enjoyed the different elements and the psychological behaviors that each character shows us. The erotic elements are very hot, this is not a read for anyone who may have triggers when reading. The story was well written and refreshing from what I’m used to. I look forward to more from this author so I can see where she takes our minds next! *Reviewed for Hellmouth’s Bookblog & Reviews
I actually had won a KINDLE copy of this book through a giveaway the author had on Amazon.com and the following is my honest opinion.
As I’ve just stated I’ve received this book through the author’s giveaway on Amazon and what had intrigued me to try to enter that giveaway had been the book’s description, I hadn’t paid attention to the book’s epic length of 544 pages. The thing is that books of this magnitude can at times be rather problematic when it comes to reading them since there’s an apparent inherent possibility that it could be rather long-winded.
While I didn’t find this to be a problem here; I feel there’s a complexity given the number of characters the book has when coupled with the number of various story elements going on throughout the book’s storyline[s] to keep up with what’s happening. While some readers might scoff at the sizzling steamy erotic nature of the writing used by Ms. Ness-Bitner here, my erotic side look as being quite satisfying. Despite Barbara sensing her life’s disappointments she still had been able keep a vigilant eye on her immoral desires. I really got into Marty’s lascivious personae of titillating her paramours on one hand while devastating their lovers with the other. The fiery, steamy sex scenes the author has written had not only been quite satisfying, they played havoc with that side of me to the extend I wound up soaking my panties.
White some individuals might feel the book’s epic length of 544 pages was good; In the end, I feel, the author could have still pulled everything the book has to offer off, if it had been shorter, which is why I’ve given this book 4 STARS.
For me, this was just terrible. I don't mind erotic text, but this was way beyond that. To me, it was a bit over the top, grotesque even. I did not enjoy it at all. Some books will really entice me and all I want to do is keep reading, not this one.
The characters, they were shallow really. I didn't like any of them, not one. They really didn't have any real personalities; they were just nothing more than words. I want to feel the characters and this definitely did not give me that at all.
The story, well, I didn't enjoy anything about the story really. I love when sex is written well. It will have me on edge, drooling, waiting for more. This was definitely not that. It was crude and disgusting. Not a feel good at all.
I'm not able to give this 0 stars.I read about six of 539 pages and just wondered whatever possessed me to buy it and the sequel.I think it was free,or should be.My time is too valuable ...so I'm skipping to another series. This erotica had demonic undertones, which upset me a great deal more than erotica would, but this writing is trash. It needs much better editing, too.
I THOUGHT IT WAS GREAT. iT GETS INTO THE PSYCHOLOGY OF REJECTION AND THE BEHAVIORS THAT RESULT. I THINK IT'S A GOOD STUDY OF SOCIOPATHIC BEHAVIORS ALL WRAPPED UP IN A FINANCIAL INSTITUTION. I WROTE THE BOOK, SO TAKE THAT INTO ACCOUNT. I HOPE YOU'LL ENJOY IT. IT GETS INTO SOME EROTIC SEDUCTIONS, SO IF YOU ARE SQUEAMISH OR A MINOR, DON'T READ IT. THANKS
I did try to read the book, however after about 20 pages-This book is not for me. Every word was demonic and erotic. The only way I can describe it, for me, it's pornography in words. I'm sure there are many who will like the book, I am not one of them.
I received this book as a free First Reads through Goodreads.
I did not care for this book. The story itself was good, but the narrative ran on and on. First about finances. Over and over for WAY to many pages. Then about sex. I would skip over so much due to this. This actually could have been a very interesting story. It took me so long to read because I would read other books and not this one. I did not want to come back to it. I finally had to force myself to finish it. I probably skipped almost half of the book.
I personally will not recommend this book to anyone.
I received a copy of this book in a Goodreads giveaway.
This book was so offensive, I closed and deleted it after less than one chapter. And it had nothing to do with the content, but with the sheer stupidity of the writing. The main character's name alone was enough to make me want to hurl it off a cliff- Butterfly Poon? Really?
Bottom line, this is absolutely stupid and anyone who wastes their time on this garbage would have to be REALLY desperate for something to read.
