International Book Awards Finalist! Scribbles is a young girl who struggles in school. She would rather draw her favorite animal, frogs, all day. Mrs. Sunshine notices her struggle and guides her in her schoolwork so she can feel successful in both school and drawing. Come along with Scribbles and watch how she conquers both!
I must admit to being a fan of frogs and to once upon a time being one of those students who finds class hard to concentrate on, so I immediately felt akin to Scribbles. She is an underdog to cheer for, and she found someone who believes in her and is willing to give her the support she needs. An inspiring story with clever, whimsical pictures sure to motivate students to not only strive to succeed but also to have empathy for others around them who might be struggling.
My rating is based upon the reactions of my nieces: Niece 1, 6 yo: I loved it! Niece 2, 4 yo: Buy it! [apparently she is not satisfied with a KU copy and wants a hard copy to read for herself]
This took no time at all to read. It was very enjoyable to read along with my son. The illustrations are very bright and interesting. Kept my child interested all throughout the story. I love how this book helps students when they are needing help. The teacher helps her through hard times till she can find a way out of it. It's very sweet, and I highly recommend it!
As a future educator I love this book because it provides teachers with various strategies they can incorporate across different content areas to help the students be successful. Not all learners learn the same way so as teachers we have to be able to tap into the strengths of our students.
This book is super cute and shows the positive effect that the teacher has on her student. The student likes to doodle and scribble instead of doing her school work, because she is struggling. The teacher helps her work through her struggles and she learns to love art and school.
The impact a teacher can have on a student can really change their lives. This book does an excellent job showing this as well as enforcing the lessons of being able to accomplish anything you put your mind to. The illustrations are very creative and interesting!
Scribbles is a great book. There are many students like Scribbles who may get distracted or do not always understand what is going on in class. I think that this book will help some kids know that it is ok to get the help they need.
This book is about a young girl who does not do so well in school. She would rather color then learn new things. Her teacher notices and helps her along the way! Very good Book!
