Written by the founder of Illustrated Faith, this is her invitation to leave the excuses at the door and join her in not only falling in love with your Bible but STAYING in love with your Bible.
This book was inspiring, enlightening, refreshing! It was full of words I needed to hear, lessons I needed to learn and grace I needed to accept! I appreciate the heart behind the writing of it, and I know God has already used it in an amazing way to reach distant parts of my heart and learning process! I will highly recommend this book to anyone who, like me, struggles to really WANT to spend time in the Bible, or doesn’t know how to connect in it. This book has helped give me a plan and I really am learning to fall in love with not only my Bible, but God!!
10 Ways to Fall in Love with Your Bible by Shanna Noel is another offering by the author of a collection of bible verses, and quotes in lovely calligraphy. Beyond the artistic lettering are ten clear steps to deepen your reading (and application) of the Word.
Each chapter section provides a sweet, if convicting, narrative for action. Included are blank pages for personal lists relative to the chapter. It’s a book that inspires and challenges, no matter where your walk with God is at present.
To the detractors who claim the book is elementary in a spiritual quest, it is well to counter that with “It matters little where a person may be at this moment; the point is whether he is growing.” - George Macdonald
To grow in the Word is personal, and in such quest one can find great learning in this book because of the actions prompted. It is for new Christians and those well seasoned in the Word. Like most things, you will reap in proportion of what you sow.
Ms. Noel’s offering here might be directed at falling in love with your Bible, but also to live it in word and deed. But maybe that’s the same thing...
It took me way too long to finish reading this book, but it was well worth it!
Once I started reading, it was pretty quick to move forward. Noel has a very approachable writing style, and I appreciated just how interactive the book is—it made me get personal with it and with the Word.
The tips aren’t rocket science—they’re things anyone can do. This is just the breath of fresh air I needed to deepen my love of the Word.
Actual rating: 3 1/2 I think this book would be very good for new Christians. People who struggle to get into their Bible. Shanna gives good and different ways to connect with God. But I feel like it doesn't get deep really... I am glad to have read it though and she uses great images in her writing to help you understand clearly.
I'm familiar with Shanna Noel since I had a season of really being "into" Bible art journaling. This book would've been helpful to me a decade ago when I could relate to how her dusty Bible just sat on the shelf, even though she was a pastor's wife (and I was a teacher at a Christian school). There were some good nuggets here and there, but it didn't really meet me where I am now.
I truly enjoyed this book by Shanna. I related to a lot that she said in the beginning and felt that I could take her realistic ideas and put them into action for myself. I feel like I underlined and highlighted 2/3 of the book! ha!
I got this book on sale many months ago, but just finally read it. It is a quick read, with inspiring thoughts from the author. Also included are a lot of Bible verses, quotes, shiny pages, and a journaling challenge. Good book that will encourage you in your faith journey.
