For a textbook, it gives an alright overview of theories and background of Child and Youth Care practice, the nature of the milieu, and working with children and adolescents in residential care. Citations are a bit outdated (ranging anywhere from 70s to early 2000s) so theories and practices are not as update. Textbook was a bit dry, but was suffice for my introductory CYC class.

I'd actually rate this 2.5/5. For a textbook, it was well put together and easy to read. Personally speaking I wasn't totally interested in the content, but it was alright. This text is more directed at people who are in the Child and Youth Care field or planning on being in it - which I am not. Thus, it can be a really good resource for those whom the topic applies.
