From the internationally read and chart topping author of The Tablet, comes his most jaw dropping series yet. This electrifying new release from renowned author Tim Heath will have you on the edge of your seat and begging for more!
Tim has been married to his wife Rachel since 2001, and they have two daughters. He lives in Tallinn, Estonia, having moved there with his family in 2012 from St Petersburg, Russia, which they moved to in 2008. He is originally from Kent in England and lived for eight years in Cheshire, before moving abroad. As well as writing the novels that are already published (plus the one or two that are always in the process of being finished) Tim enjoys being outdoors, exploring Estonia, cooking and spending time with his family.
WOW! What a rush! This book is absolutely perfect; I can’t wait for the whole series of “The Hunt”. The first Book “The Prey” is so good! From the first pages you can’t let it down, when you start thinking that everything goes smoothly you have a twist and you get shocked! And then you have to read more! I really appreciate when I can’t imagine what’s going to be next; I love a good story with unexpected twists! A well written book with action, thriller, twists, excitement, agony… With one word: A*M*A*Z*I*N*G !
This book is being republished in April 2023 by Conundrum Pub. It's Squid Games meets James Bond set in Russia. Loved the idea and intrigue of this one and will continue on with the series when it's released.
This novel picks up after The Tablet. That is not a necessary prerequisite, but it provides some context.
Tim introduces us to the world of the ultra rich Russian oligarchs. The story explores the budding working relationship of MI6 and FSB agents as they try to determine the crimes and purpose of a select group of these oligarchs.
The characters are well developed and the pace of progress is very realistic. St Petersburg is itself a character and we learn a lot about this iconic city.
I read this after The Pride (book 2 of The Hunt series). I would urge you to read them in order. Some of the suspense is lost if you don't.
I like the series and highly recommend them. I can't wait to read book 3 when it is published.
I was provided this book by the author. That fact has not effected my review.
I'm glad that I read this book as there was a lot more to it than I thought there would be since I had already read the second book. From the progression of the partnership between Alex and Anissa to the subterfuge that led to Phelan seeming to outsmart his oligarch, this book was definitely worth reading. If you're looking for an exciting story, this is it. Although I would recommend reading the books in order.
This was my second Tim Heath book and I really enjoyed it. There was lots of intrigue, greed and corruption, and a further reminder (if any was needed) of why rampant capitalism has failed the 99% so those at the top can do whatever they please. Scary stuff!
When I first started the story, I didn't know what to expect. The story refers to a group of Russian oligarchs who created a game where they lured individuals to search for a special prize. Agroup were designated as host and it was their responsibility to find their own contestant. Once their game started, they then began bidding to so which oligarch's contestant would come out on top. The prize was a lottery ticket with the winner number that hadn't been collected yet, The object once they discovered the ticket was to get to the country where they could collect the prize. The oligarchs then put obsticals in place to prevent them from meeting that goal. The contestant believed that they only had a day to accomplish their task, where it was really more. Once the contestant realized that they were going to make it, individuals working for the oligarchs recovered the ticket and then went to claim the prize.
MI6 got wind of something going on and began looking into it. The last message that their informant relayed was intercepted and only by someone else advising Alex and Anissa were they informed. Alex and Anissa did not know what was going on and only put it togethe with assistance from Sasha, an FSB agent, were they able to figure out what it related to. It was discovered that in the last game someone had outside help and was able to claim the prize. The oligarch who recruited Phelan took a beating with his last bet and was looking to make an example of Phelan.
The next game was set for New Years and Alex and Anissa went to Russia to learn more. THis game was going to be different from all of the others. The conclusion will make you wait for the next book to learn what action this game took.
I must say I enjoyed the book and look forward to reading more from this author.
I received an ARC and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
Rich people playing with ordinary, everyday people's lives, by offering them a chance to cash in lottery tickets. The catch is, they have no intention of letting that happen.
Great plot – enjoyable read I received an advance reader copy of this book, and I am thrilled to leave a review and would definitely recommend! Wow – what a superb read. Absolutely love this type of book. Fast paced, well-detailed Once I started this book, it was hard to not to read it all in one sitting. The writing style and quality was outstanding and made the journey into the story all the more enjoyable. Masterful plot with Intelligent, well developed characters who each had an interesting back story, made for a great read. Indications are this is the first book in a series, so eagerly looking forward to installment #2.
I've always said you should think about this series like this: The Hunger Games, in the real world with Russian oligarchs.
I trust you see that connection.
For fans of my third novel, The Tablet, we once again enter back into the world of St Petersburg, Russia and all things FSB. There is a huge political element growing too in this series––the first four books are already written, and each will be out over the coming 12 months.
Being my 5th novel, I hope you see my continued growth and development as an author.
I've been excited about this series for a very long time––finally we are nearly at publication. The Prey, which is book one in the series, comes out globally on 21st April, though due to my advanced readers' team, there are those who have already read their own copy––and loved it!
Book two will come out in August, and book three before the end of 2017.
