My name is KA Richardson, and I am a crime and romantic suspense writer based in the North East of England. I write around my other work commitments so am constantly on the go. I love reading many genres, love speaking to people and I spend a lot of time people-watching in coffee shops, though if I'm honest this is more for the purposes of character-building and plotting. I enjoy watching 'cop' shows from both the UK and the USA, and am a fan of sci-fi. I began thinking about writing as a career in 2010 and completed my Ma Creative Writing in 2011. I love to be inspired, and enjoy spending time with friends and family, as well as other like-minded folk. All I can say about this book is DONT READ!! the characters are boring one dimensional & the plot preposterous, the premise sounded so good but there was no build up chapter by chapter it was just a no brainer.

Watch You Burn is the fourth instalment in the North East Police series but don't you worry for one second because this one can easily be read as a stand-alone!

Edina Blaze is a Fire Investigator and really, with a name like that, how could she not do something related to fires? She's not having the most fantastic week ever. Someone keeps sneaking into her house, leaving notes and she can't figure out how this person is getting in. Then there's her ex-boyfriend Cam, who's not the nicest guy in the world. Is it him who's making her feel unsafe in her own home?

As if that wasn't enough, she also has a job to do. Someone is rather enjoying burning college kids alive and the case hits particularly close to home as Edina's sister Heather finds herself involved.

The first chapter sets the tone of the book perfectly. I found it especially gripping to follow the thoughts of the pyromaniac killer. Their fascination with all things fire was truly engrossing to read about and provided an incredible insight into the mind of true evil. Or craziness. Or maybe both. I'm a little undecided on that part.

There's a lot going on in this story, which I really enjoyed and it held my attention from start to finish. It's quite action-packed from the case Edina and Kevin are working on, to events in Edina's private life. Great plot, realistic and believable characters with some gruesome and uncomfortable scenes that will be tough to forget. If you don't mind reading about crispy bodies, then this book is for you!

I did a very naughty thing reading Watch You Burn, I stayed up till 2AM to finish it even though I knew I needed to get up early the next day! Once I started reading it I could just not put it down, it was seriously that good.

I loved both main character, Kevin Lang and Edina Blaze (honestly how cool is her name) and the fact they weren't the usual detectives. Kevin Lang is a crime scene manager and Edina Blaze is a fire investigator (again how much more perfect is that name). The whole idea of The North East Police Series is brilliant as each book can be read as a standalone, but there are characters that pop up in all of them and some crimes are mentioned that have happened in other books. The series is just based around the police in that area. Their relationship also feels extremely natural and organic and I was routing for them right from the start.

The pace was fast and at times breath catching as the team raced to find out who was burning people and then when personal problems intensified too...woah!

It was interesting to hear different terminology and science than in a usual crime novel with the characters being from crime scene and fire and you can tell the knowledge and research that went into making everything realistic and authentic. The camaraderie between the firemen came across as very realistic and true to what it would need to be when you're putting your life in someone else's hands on a daily basis.

Overall an absolutely excellent book and really well written. I really enjoyed reading Watch You Burn and it was worth the 2AM bed time and the following tiredness the next day!

Kerry Wilkinson is an excellent author. Each book she releases just gets better and this one doesn’t disappoint. It is well written and grabs the reader from the first page and just keeps on giving.

This book takes everything you thought you knew and understood about the people who commit murder and pulls it to bits in front of you.

People are being burned alive and the Police are flummoxed. It is not clear if the cases are linked even the fire investigators are struggling to find evidence to link the cases. As an added complication someone is getting in to a fire investigator’s house and leaving messages and nobody can find out how they are getting in or why she is being targetted.

Add to the mix a young woman who is insecure and self harming and we end up with a book that has so much going on and an overdose of adrenaline pumping suspense that is: Watch You Burn, an excellent book that will stay with the reader. I wish I could give it more than 5 stars but….

There are many characters in this book but I think the one that stands out for me is Edina. She is trying to move forward with her career after an accident meant she had to give up fire fighting and she is now a fire investigator who has the unenviable job of finding out why people are being burned. She is also trying to rebuild a relationship with her sister, Heather.

A lot of suspense with family, relationships and a sprinkling of romance and the result is an excellent 5 star read. With so much going on you would think it would get confusing but Kerry has expertly explained all the parts and interwoven them into a reasonably easy read.

Thankyou to Bloodhound Books who provided me with an advance copy of this book.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book!!  I loved the plot and the pace of the book was spot on.  The characters really grew on me and even when you did find out who was responsible it didn't detract from the story and you were still left with plenty of guessing about what would happen next.  Its quite a rollercoaster of a ride and I read it in a day.  I have read other books by this author and again she had done a brilliant job - 4 stars for this one from me. The book is available to download now so you can grab your copy straight away!

As ever, good storylines with a touch of romance and dealing with difficult subjects. This one felt more formulaic than the others though. Don’t really think the heroes needed all the extra batterings they got at the end but at least it was mostly wrapped up

This wonderful author has now got another best seller on her hands, she has a fantastic way with words. Her books are in depth, descriptive and highly captivating. She actually brings a book to life and in this one I was so engrossed from start to finish that I didn't want it to end but nonetheless I was eager to find out who was doing all the killings. If I could give this author more than a 5 ⭐️rating I would and... I'd totally recommend it to any avid reader of crime scene books.

OMG where have I been….I am finally jumping on the KA Richardson band wagon. After seeing such a stunning book cover I couldn't wait to get stuck into Watch You Burn and believe it or this is actually the first book that I have read by this author. After reading the prologue I have to say I was impressed and it made me think why have I never read any of this author's books before. I can see why she is such a popular author now. This is one hell of a pulse racing read.

Kerry weaves a story that will have you hooked from start to finish. Telling a story of an Pyromaniac that's going round burning people to death. Talk about gruesome. With descriptions that are OMG! And Edina from the Fire Investigation Team, who has personal problems with the two storylines running alongside each other.

Watch You Burn is the third book in the North East Police Series and can be read has a standalone.Sometimes you feel like you have missed something by not reading a series in order but this certainly isn't the case with this story.

KA Richardson style of writing is fresh and crisp making this story an easy read. What can I say but I freaking loved it and will definitely be reading all of this series now! I cannot recommend this book enough giving it 5 hot stars.

I must have been reading a different book from the people who have given this one four or five stars. It's the worst book I've read this year and if there were an option for zero stars it would get it from me. The plotting is ludicrous. The protagonist, Edina, has a stalker threatening her; his fate is somehow forgotten about as the psycho ex-boyfriend turns up threatening her as well. Poor Edina is also caught up in not one, but two, arson events. The voice of the arsonist never rings true and all the university students act and speak as if they are adolescents caught up in rival cliques, bullying, two murders, one suicide, and more attempted murders by arson. The parents are nearly as badly presented and unconvincing. In addition, the book is so very badly written - she was stood; she was sat; gunna for going to; misplaced apostrophes. I only persevered to the end as it's relatively short and I couldn't believe it could get any worse, but it did. Don't waste your time and money on this one, dear readers.

Even though this is part of the North East Police series all of the books are stand alone’s and do not need to be read in order. Either way you will want to read them once you start this series.

This felt very different to the rest of the authors books. Where as most of the books are to do with the main characters in the force dealing with murder cases, this one heavily features on Edina Blaze and things going on in her personal life. Nothing wrong with that though as boy does she have an awful lot going on.

Edina deals in investigating fires due to a back injury when she used to be in the thick of tackling fires. You can tell this is something that she struggles to come to terms with. There is an ongoing case of people being found burnt to death which runs alongside what is going in Edina’s life. The actual case doesn’t really kick off until probably the last thirty percent of the novel. When that happens, woah, it makes for some seriously gripping stuff. Don’t get me wrong the whole story is good but it gets even better when it reaches this point.

You can tell the author has really done her research. I was absolutely riveted with how the killer started the fires and what happens next. It was as if I could feel the flames and the smells for myself as it was so descriptive. I was literally pounding on my kindle to turn the pages to find out how it was all going to end and I certainly wasn’t disappointed.

Watch You Burn is a flaming hot read! Set at a steady pace which had me hurdling at full throttle towards the end, this is one series I really can’t get enough of.

Fire Investigator Ed(ina) has a creepy stalker whilst her sister Heather is bullied by Janelle. ‘She’ hates Janelle and wants to watch her burn …

Introduction

North East Police Series #4

I love reconnecting with the North-East Police whose members almost feel like family to me, such as Detective Inspector Ali McKay. The friendly atmosphere and mutual looking out for each other are simply heartwarming. Not so for Edina (Ed) though, the former firefighter who now is a Fire Investigator. She feels she has lost the right to be part of her team since a tumultuous break up with a colleague firefighter ended in his mandatory leave from the Darlington Fire Department. Added to that, somebody is regularly entering her home and leaving obscure notes. Ed’s little sister Heather has problems of her own as she is the object of constant pestering and bullying by Janelle and her friends. The most frightening, however, is the insight we have into ‘her’ mind – ‘she’ has endured an abusive environment growing up adhering to her obsession with fire. ‘She’ wants revenge and cannot wait to watch her enemies burn …

Storyline

Ed’s little sister Heather also feels alone and her answer to the constant bullying by Janelle and her two friends is self-mutilation, even though she knows she is not the only victim with her best friends, Susie and Chloe, also being targets of Janelle’s nastiness. Powerless to act or to end the pestering, Heather feels unable to handle the situation and is too lost to seek help from her mother and sister. Ed in the meantime has no clue as to how the creep is able to enter her house unseen, leaving notes everywhere. Although he has not harmed her in any way, it is extremely disquieting that he is able to come and go as he pleases. Who is this stalker invading her private life? Perhaps the manipulating firefighter she had a relationship with? Could he be that obsessed? Furthermore, the fact that the intruder leaves no marks makes Ed doubt whether the Police or her colleagues will ever believe her, let alone apprehend her stalker.

When examining a crime scene, Fire Investigator Ed meets Crime Scene Manager Kevin again. Their first encounter left a bad taste and the question is whether they can set aside their animosity. Is it a coincidence Kevin is sent to Ed’s house to examine the scene? Soon their lives become entwined as the danger increases. Meanwhile, ‘she’ is thrilled to have watched this house burning and while ‘she’ watches we are privy to her thoughts about a bullying father and a mother who did not do anything – the reason why ‘she’ learned to cook at an early age. Is it watching the flames of the cooker burn that set off her fascination with fire? Her father desperately tried to keep her from setting fire to places but ‘she’ has cleverly found a way around it. We are witness to her hate for Janelle and her craving for revenge and know, it is only a matter of time before ‘she’ starts the gruesome retaliation ‘she’ has been planning for ages: to watch them burn ..

My Thoughts

Wow! The North East Police consists of such extraordinary characters! Those of you who have read the previous thrillers in the series will recognise DI Ali McKay and references to other characters. It almost feels like a family reunion if it were not for the dark and gruesome events going on in the book. This time, the author has dug deep into her characters and we witness how one of the protagonists (‘she’) grows up in an abusive environment. To the author, it is clearly nurture – a disrupted childhood – causing people to become unhinged. It is disturbing to be in ‘her’ head and experience the world through ‘her’ eyes. Somehow you feel pity but the gruesome and spine-chilling thoughts and actions speak another language. I love it that KA Richardson in this 4th instalment decided to focus on the psychology and showed us her characters’ vulnerabilities and how they developed into the messed up people they are now. It not only ensures the characters are true-to-life but also reminds us there is much more to an individual than they show the world.

I’ve been a fan of K A Richardson since her short story Escape, a 5* read that packed such an emotional punch in just a few short pages that I knew she was going to be an author destined for the bestseller list. Her North East Police Series has  been a big hit for me, all of the books can be read as standalone novels but they all have a connection. They remind me of the Karen Rose books where a character in a previous book crops up in other books in the linked series. Think thriller with a side order of romantic suspense.

I have to start by saying what a brilliant name for a Fire Investigator – Edina Blaze! And she has her work cut out here when an arsonist starts targeting students at the local university. She teams up with crime scene manager Kevin Lang to find the culprit which may be explosive considering the sparks flying between the two of them! Edina also has problems of her own with a seemingly unstoppable stalker but will a relationship with Kevin frighten him off or be the catalyst for an escalation in his campaign of terror. Plus her sister Heather seems to be connected to the fires, could the family interest in fire have had a more negative impact on the younger Blaze sibling?

I was constantly on the edge of my seat throughout this terrific thriller! I became so involved in the plot that I was unable to put my kindle down until I discovered who was setting these fires and why. The prologue chilled me to the bone as I watched a young child became obsessed with fire and then using it to escape a life that no child should be faced with. But what I really love about this series is that Kerry Richardson creates likeable, strong and independent female characters in positions of authority that everyone can relate to. And it was great to catch up with other characters from previous books as I’ve been dying to know what happened to them since their own storylines came to an end.

There was obviously a huge amount of research done for Watch You Burn and it has paid off for the author with this realistically intense drama full of intricate detail and with a fascinating insight into the work of a Fire investigation team. Kerry is such a talented writer, able to spin an all consuming tale that grabs your attention from the very first page and refuses to let you go until the action packed finale. I love this series so hope there are many more books to come in the future.

This is the first book I have read by this writer, I was kindly offered a place on the blog tour and because I know from previous experience how much I have enjoyed ‘Bloodhound’ books I readily agreed. Well, let me say straightaway I will be quickly catching up with Kerry’s other books if this one is anything to go by .. I have found myself another favourite author!

It’s part of the North East Police series but I had no trouble reading it as a stand-alone. This book concentrates mainly on Edina Blaze’s story. Yes, her name is Blaze and she works in the fire investigation team! Her personal life has been rocky and this open’s up opportunity for further turmoil.

Her sister Heather is a Uni student and has been bullied mercilessly for a lot of years, there is a group of Uni kids, some nice some downright nasty .. but when they begin to die the finger of suspicion gets pointed in a couple of directions.

Each kid has issues and their stories are cleverly intertwined with Edina and the police. Each character is very well developed and as the book progresses the crimes and events pick up pace.

Obviously the title gives an indication of the content, fire plays a big part and the memorising effect of the flames creating an atmospheric feel is so vividly described you can almost feel the heat and tension. The circumstances prove grisly, lots of research must have been undertaken in order to tell this story and it is indeed gripping.

Not only does it cover the fire obsession but also alcoholism, self-harming, depression, suicide, stalking and bullying. It moves along at a steady pace and by the end it’s a race against time to turn the pages.

I liked Edina, she was a tough cookie but certainly showed her vulnerable side. The camaraderie in the police/fire teams was entirely believable. At first it’s a guessing game as to who is setting the fires and why .. will you be able to guess? I must admit I did suss out who the stalker was and the method of entry so I was quite proud of myself for that.

An incredibly addictive read, cram packed with action I enjoyed every minute of it.

Thanks so much to Kerry and Bloodhound Books for my copy .. I read and reviewed voluntarily.

As if I was going to say anything other than OH MY FRIGGING GOD, Ms Richardson!!!
How on Earth can someone so lovely have such ghastly tales in her head?!?!?
Watch You Burn is book four in the North East Police series, although, it should probably be renamed the North East Emergency Services Series as each book focuses on a different department of those who put their lives on the line to save ours. And, as each book focuses on a different group of people you can read them out of order.
Watch You Burn follows the life of Edina Blaze, the aptly named Fire Investigator, as she investigates a series of fires tearing through her hometown.
Edina has her own story, which the author pulls us straight into, from the first word to the last we are drawn to her, we want to know what happened to relegate her from firefighter to investigator, why she wont go drinking with the rest of the team and who the heck is leaving obscene messages in her house.
As always, Richardson packs a punch with this one, building up the setting and really getting the plot to the point where it is impossible to put the book down. Her descriptions are so intense you can practically feel the flames whispering against your cheeks as you're reading, can feel the heat rising from the pages.
With a brilliantly nail-biting second half, this is one you do not want to miss.
Watch You Burn is a sizzling thriller that will have you melting from the heat!

This is the first book by this author I have read, and it most definitely will not be the last! I am already looking forward to the next instalment in this series :)

Edina Blaze is an ex-firefighter who now works as a Fire Investigator. Her work brings her in close contact with Kevin Lang and there are sparks between them that have nothing to do with fires! Their relationship is part of the story but this is first and foremost a police procedural - a gritty story that is quite dark in places and very gripping. Edina has to put up with a lot more trauma in her life than most people, and I really liked her character. I liked the secondary characters in this book as well, good and bad, that speaks to the author's skill in writing, I really got quite emotionally involved.

The author does a fantastic job of weaving several strands together within this book and it all comes together beautifully. I read this book every chance I got, even falling asleep with my face in the Kindle, absolutely loved it!

Highly recommended read from me.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book. Thank you to Bloodhound Books.

I have read all of Ms Richardson's books and loved them. They get better and better and this is the cream of the crop. I wish I could give it more than 5 stars.
As soon as you start reading her books you're enthralled and taken on a roller-coaster ride.
All of Ms Richardson's books are set in the North East of England and deal with different aspects of the police. Her background of working within the police force make the books so real.
The characters are so well drawn they immediately elicit strong feelings of either love or hate.
This is book 4 in the series but don't let that put you off as they can all be read as stand alone thrillers.
If this is the first book you've read by Ms Richardson, I'll guarantee you will go on to read them all.
I can't wait for book 5 so write quickly Ms Richardson!

this book did not disappoint.

this book deals with the concept of bullying with in the work place and with students.

there are so many twists and turns in this book you might get whip lash.

Heather is being bullied by a group from school which continues onto university. Her small group of friends suffer so much abuse that in the end one of them snaps but which one is it

Her sister Edina is a fire investigator and is being stalked. The perpetrator let's themselves into her home with no way of her knowing how.

This book had me gripped all the way through so much so that I really wish I didn't have to go to work and could have finished it sooner

Another 5 star read from KA Richardson in her North East Police series. I love the now familiar characters that have been created in this series. This plot had some terrifying events and deaths. Just when I thought I had fathomed it all out there was yet another twist in the plot. Edina Blaze the fire officer investigating these horrendous events also has some frightening events going on in her personal life. A heart pounding read which I had no idea how it would end! Looking forward to the next book in this ser

Another brilliant page turner from K.A Richardson! I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book from start to finish. It was so easy to get into, the storyline was gripping, the characters were equally likeable or despicable and the conclusion came to a good ending, with the possibility of a follow up from the remaining characters (hint, hint).

Wow!!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and the thought that has gone into it. Fantastic storyline, the police,CSI's and fire fighters but the one thing that got me throughout, was that the entire sequence of events, were caused by bullying and the effects it can have on many, many people. Sad for all

Disappointing. Good premise for the storyline, but the last half of the book was filled with life threatening situations that made me flick through the last several chapters as it was same old/same old.
