I won this book in a Goodreads giveaway. :) My 7 year old son loved this book. He wants to read more about Elsie's adventures! Fun and short chapter book and was very descriptive so my son was able to follow the story easily without pictures!

A very good book and enjoyable read that kids will absolutely love. Takes the reader back to a time when you would go to the library and just absolutely get lost in a book and the world revolving around it. As a near 40-year-old I highly recommend this book for kids learning to read. The art inside is pretty good too. My only problem with this book might have been that it was too short! But maybe that's a plus in that it makes the reader wanting more and it looks like more books in this series will be coming out shortly. I look forward to following Elsie Jones and her adventures written by a stellar and diverse writer in Sean McBride. Good stuff all around.

I have 2 girls, a 4 year old who just started reading step 1 & 2 books and an 8 year old who rips through a Rick Riordan book every week. I love Elsie Jones because not only because she is a fantastic female character that takes amazing adventures and has a love of reading, but because this book captures the attention of both girls. The dynamic plot kept my older one gasping as she read, excited to turn the page to find out what happens next. My younger daughter is excited to read a chapter book all by herself (with a little help) and loves letting her imagination think of the story. I love that the girls have a strong lead character who is a girl, loves reading like my girls, and that they are introduced to a variety of literary themes, characters, and authors throughout the series. We can't wait for the next one to come out!
