The third book of the Fuzed Trilogy.
***
As the men cheer loudly, there’s a brilliant flash and thunderclap. Temporarily blinded, they stumble back from the Humvee, pushed by a blast of hot air and smoke. As the smoke clears … there leader is gone. Where he stood is nothing but the smoldering, melted hood of the Humvee.
***
She slowly turns 360 degrees, sweeping her hand across the horizon. “Josh, there isn’t a soul in sight. No cars, airplanes or boats.” She pauses. “Who do you think would be watching you?” Looking down the beach and watching the surf erase their footprints, he sighs and says softly, “Not who … what.”
***
IMPOSSIBLE is the conclusion of the Fuzed Trilogy. There is foreshadowing of a future story, not because the author can’t count how many books are in a trilogy, but because one of you sent the author an email highlighting a brand new technological threat, one that didn’t even exist when the trilogy was outlined. The next story may be considered an addendum or possibly ... the beginning of a new trilogy.

Impossible is a fascinating new chapter in Dave Stevens’ Fuzed series. Following the events of the previous book, Josh Fuze has returned to his home in Texas in a sort of forced retirement. His wife, Elizabeth, has continued in the medical field, advancing to a deputy in the UN’s disaster relief program. While Josh is grateful for her, he finds his life has fallen into limbo again, until he receives a warning from the Brian Davidson, the new Director for National Intelligence. Davidson says that he’s found evidence behind leaks of top secret information, and he believes these events are happening from within the government. He wants someone outside the system to check into it and so he has chosen Josh. Yet, soon after their first meeting, Davidson dies amidst mysterious circumstances.

With no sources and no credible evidence, Josh must then investigate a vast conspiracy that may cross the bounds of both national and international governments. Unsure of who to trust or where to look, Josh begins on his own, meeting with old allies and working with new people like Doruk Turan, head of the UN’s new Director of Global Security. Turan is a resourceful and charismatic man, who has both a mixed genetic background and a largely unknown history like Josh himself, and he has, during his term of office, almost completely eliminated terrorism from the world. Seeing Turan as a potential ally, Josh accepts Turan’s call for help, checking into some security issues within the UN’s new international space based laser and observatory, also known as ISLO. He discovers some disturbing finds that could link the conspiracy to the Russians.

As his investigation continues, Josh slowly begins putting together clues, including a top secret government program that uses micro-sized drone technology for spying and surveillance. He discovers that most of the world’s leaders are being targeted by these surveillance drones while at the same time the UN continues work on the ISLO – something that could easily be used as a powerful weapon against almost any unsuspecting target on Earth or in space.

Dave Stevens drives the story forward with a conspiracy rich that is mystery and espionage. We get a glimpse into a futuristic tomorrow where the computer AI known as Jen continues to evolve, nano-drones are commonplace and the world is more interconnected than ever before. It is a world that is not impossible, but in fact, very probable.

In this story, many popular characters from the previous novels make return appearances – ranging from the revered military leader, Joe Meadows; to the rather nerdy and yet resourceful, Greg Langlois; and many more. All these characters play their parts to unravel the deep tapestry of a very dangerous conspiracy. Impossible is a story full of mystery, intrigue, and adventure. Dave Stevens pushes the limits of the Fuzed series with this highly fulfilling and action-packed end to the Fuzed trilogy – or is it indeed the end?

This whole series of books is "Impossible"

A whole bunch of " Mission Impossible " with a big dose of "MacGyver" makes this a truly outstanding read. I started reading book one yesterday morning and finished book three this evening. I am obsessed with sci-fi and am happily retired so I can do these marathons. Dave, you wanted feedback on the past or present tense so IMHO I don't like the present in book 3. I have read upwards of 5-6,000 books and the present tense throws me off. I notice it to the detriment of the story. But nothing would keep me from reading this book. It's wonderful. And, yes, keep it going as a new wave of the series.

These 3 books start off with a test pilot waking up in an enhanced body. Then each book he has to resolve an issue. Each book ends with an epilog "How Real is This".

The first book got me wanting to find out how he got his new body, and it left open questions. The 2nd book seemed to forget this except for a 1-line clue (which could lead to knowing who is his secret advisor). Nobody seemed interested in resolving his story. He's just an enhanced person. The third book has another enhanced person, but it doesn't help resolve the question.

I bought the trilogy after reading the first book, because I was interested in that story. I have given up.

My personal fear is that this book isn't science fiction but all to close to being reality! The necessity of people thinking for themselves can't be over emphasized. This author must do extensive research for the 3 books that are currently published and can't wait for the conclusion of 3rd book. A page turner that will make you wonder about the people in power in our governments.

Decent

Was really hoping for some answers but seems the story will continue. I'd go on with specifics but do not want to give any spoilers. Beyond that disappointment this installment was worth the read but left me unsatisfied. Kind of want to rate it 3 stars but will leave at 4 as I have enjoyed the trilogy; I mean series.

Impossible: (Fused #3)

The third novel in the trilogy and maybe the one that will challenge your own beliefs and whether if ok for mankind to play "GOD." The action is constant, subplots abound, and loyalties tested beyond limits, but Josh and his crew apparently are the winners along with the rest of mankind. Thanks for a great read.

Incredible conclusion to the trilogy.

As with the two earlier books in the trilogy, I just couldn't put the book down. This book has fast action and a gripping story. After reading this series, you'll look at our world with different eyes.

Excellent trilogy!

Excellent trilogy. Amazing plot and easy to read. I didn't like the present tense of the book 3. It felt like scenario for a movie or a theater. Would prefer past tense as previous two.

Book 3?

Quasi-ended better than I expected. Left me with more questions than when I started. Definitely addictive. Looking forward to reading more!

Not as good as the first two

Although I did enjoy most of it, and there was still plenty of action, there were strange spelling errors and I found the ending very confusing.

Great story line.

I just finished the third book and can’t wait for the fourth. But it looks like it might be a while. Anxiously waiting.
