കോട്ടയം മെഡിക്കല്‍ കോളേജില്‍ നിന്ന് 1979-ല്‍ MBBS ഉം കോഴിക്കോട് മെഡിക്കല്‍ കോളേജില്‍ നിന്ന് 1984-ല്‍ ഫോറന്‍സിക് മെഡിസിനില്‍ MD ഉം നേടി.1982 മുതല്‍ കോഴിക്കോട് മെഡിക്കല്‍ കോളേജില്‍ അധ്യാപിക.1996-ല്‍ WHO യുടെ ഫെല്ലോഷിപ്പില്‍ സ്ത്രീകളുടെയും കുട്ടികളുടെയും നേര്‍ക്കുള്ള അതിക്രമങ്ങള്‍,ഭീകരാക്രമണങ്ങളിലെ പരിക്കുകള്‍ ഇവയില്‍ England-ല്‍ ഉപരിപഠനം.

ഇതൊരു പഠനമാണ്. 25 വര്‍ഷത്തിലധികമായി പതിനായിരക്കണക്കിന് മൃതശരീരങ്ങള്‍ പോസ്റ്റ്‌മോര്‍ട്ടം ചെയ്ത ഒരു ഡോക്ടറുടെ അനുഭവങ്ങള്‍ ജൈവശാസ്ത്രപരവും സാമൂഹിക ശാസ്ത്രപരവുമായി അവതരിപ്പിക്കുന്ന ഗ്രന്ഥമാണിത്. അസാധാരണ മരണങ്ങളുടെ കാരണം കണ്ടെത്തുക എന്നത് വളരെ ശ്രമകരമായ ഒരു കാര്യമാണ്. ആത്മഹത്യ, വാഹനപകടങ്ങൾ, മുങ്ങിമരണങ്ങൾ, കത്തി കുത്ത്, തീപിടുത്തം എന്നിങ്ങനെ ഉണ്ടായേക്കാവുന്ന മരണത്തിൽ എന്തെങ്കിലും അസ്വഭാവികത ഉണ്ടെങ്കിൽ അവയെ വിശദമായി പഠിക്കാനും തുടർന്ന് നടക്കുന്ന അനുബന്ധ പരിശോധനയിൽ സംശയ ദൂരീകരണം എങ്ങനെ നടത്തുന്നുവെന്നും ഈ പുസ്തകത്തിൽ വിശദമായി പറയുന്നു. കേരളത്തിലും മറ്റ് പലസ്ഥലങ്ങളിലും നടന്ന അസാധാരണ മരണങ്ങളുടെ സംഭവ വിവരണങ്ങൾ ഇതിലൂടെ പരിചയപ്പെടാൻ കഴിയുന്നു. പുസ്തകത്തിൽ ജഡ്ജിമാരെ പറ്റി പറയുന്ന ഭാഗമാണ് കുറച്ചെങ്കിലും വിഷയത്തിൽ നിന്ന് തെന്നി മാറിയതായി വായനക്കാർക്ക് അനുഭവപ്പെടുന്നത്.

not all may be able to digest this.. :) .. life experience of Dr. Shirley Vasu .. If you check the history of crimes in Kerala, you will be able to get a mention of this doctor...

she has explained the kinds of cases that she used to face on a daily basis.. the explanation of different ways of dying or killing will give us the cold chillllllls :) ...

25 വര്ഷത്തിലേറെ കാലം, പതിനായിരത്തിലധികം പോസ്റ്റുമോർട്ടങ്ങൾ. കോഴിക്കോട് മെഡിക്കൽ കോളേജിലെ സീനിയർ പാത്തോളജിസ്റ് ഷേർളി വാസുവിന്റെ ഓട്ടോപ്സി അനുഭവങ്ങൾ ആണ് പോസ്റ്റുമോർട്ടം ടേബിൾ. ഉമാദത്തന്റെ "ഒരു പോലീസ് സര്ജന്റെ ഓർമ്മക്കുറിപ്പു"കളിൽ കൂടുതൽ ആട്ടോപ്സി എങ്ങിനെ കേസന്വേഷണത്തിനു സഹായകരമായി എന്നതാണ് പറയുന്നത്. അതുകൊണ്ട് തന്നെ അതൊരു ത്രില്ലർ വായിക്കുന്ന അനുഭവമാണ്. എന്നാൽ "പോസ്റ്റുമോർട്ടം ടേബിൾ" കൂടുതലായി ഓട്ടോപ്സിയുടെ ചരിത്രവും പ്രാധാന്യവും മറ്റും പറയുന്നതിനാൽ ഒരു പഠനം എന്ന രീതിയിലാണ് അനുഭവപ്പെട്ടത്.

ഷേർളി മാഡത്തിന്റെ അനുഭവ പാണ്ഡിത്യം ഓരോ പേജിലും നമ്മെ അതിശയിപ്പിക്കും. എഴുത്ത് ഒരു തൊഴിൽ അല്ലാത്ത ഒരാളുടെ അനുഭവ ക്കുറിപ്പുകൾക്ക്‌ വേറൊരു തരം ചൂരാണ്.
ഫോറൻസിക് സയൻസ്/ ക്രിമിനോളജി ഇഷ്ടപ്പെടുന്നവർ ഇൗ അനുഭവം മിസ് ചെയ്യാതിരിക്കുക. ബാറ്റൺ ബോസും ഹോസും വായിച്ച് തള്ളുന്ന സുഖം പ്രതീക്ഷിക്കരുത്.

Such books quite rare and hence special appreciation the commendable job.
one suggestion was to have the language bit simplified. this is more of subject oriented and not a literature reference.
Also it would be better to have a more details of modern facilities available in this field.
Still, overall, the authors efforts and detailing needs a big salute

ഒരു cadaver പരിശോധിച്ച് അതിൻ്റെ യദാർത്ഥ മരണ കാരണം കണ്ടുപിടിക്കുക എന്നത് ഏറെ ദുഷ്കരം അണ്. ഒരു cadaver മുന്നിൽ വരുമ്പോൾ ആ ശരീരം മരിച്ചത് അരാണ്? ഇപ്പൊൾ,എങ്ങനെ,എന്ത് കാരണം എന്നി ചോദ്യങ്ങളുടെ പ്രഥമ ഉത്തരം നൽകേണ്ട ചുമതല ഒരു ഫോറൻസിക് സർജൻ അണ്. ആയിരകണക്കിന് പോസ്റ്റ്മോർട്ടം ചെയ്ത ഒരു ഡോക്ടറുടെ അനുഭവം അണ് ഈ പുസ്തകം.

ഈ പുസ്തകത്തിലൂടെ അനുഭവങ്ങളേക്കാൾ അറിവുകാളാണ് പകർന്ന് നൽകിയത് എന്ന് തോന്നി. എന്നാൽ അതിത്രത്തോളം ചെറുതാവും എന്നും പ്രതീക്ഷിക്കുന്നില്ല. പങ്കുവച്ചതെല്ലാം മികവുള്ളവ തന്നെ, എന്നാൽ ചുരുക്കത്തിൽ ഒതുക്കിയോ എന്ന് തോന്നി പോകുന്നു. ഇനിയും വായിക്കണം എന്ന തോന്നൽ ഉണ്ടാകുന്നു.

postmortem table, written by an eminent professor of forensic medicine at calicut medical college, is a wonderful book in malayalam about the facts and myths in an autopsy room.most of the people are unaware of the details of postmortem, moreover its a nightmare to many..dr sherly has done a wonderful job by writing this book in beautiful malayalam language, giving the details of autopsy, its social and emotional aspects.everything written in this book are true incidents also.
not a must read book...but it will be a nice reading experience for those who are interested
