Ready to find the perfect match? Meryton Matchmakers has the key to your heart.
Almost losing her company to William Darcy was one thing, but to get a marriage proposal from him instead? Elizabeth never saw that coming.
Elizabeth Bennet would happily chalk up the awkward experience of Darcy's proposal as one of those odd things that happens in one's life, relieved that she hadn’t been fooled by the good looking billionaire. He was as odd as his proposal and finally out of her life. Good riddance. Until he wrote her a follow up letter. After reading it, Elizabeth saw Darcy in a whole new and flattering light which only added to her confusion.
But what's a girl to do with all these mixed emotions about one person? Let's not forget he single handedly destroyed all hope of Jane's happiness with Bingley. Now, he's back in town and witness to all that is going wrong with her company and with George Wickham, whose motives Elizabeth has yet to figure out. But there's one things she does know and that's recognizing a person desperate for love. George Wickham is that such person.
Will Elizabeth and Darcy be able to find get past their awkwardness when around each other? Will George Wickham destroy Meryton Matchmakers or help them? Does a bad boy such as Wickham deserve a happily ever after?
Hey! I’m Kristi. I write romances that will tug your heartstrings and laugh out loud mysteries. In all my stories you’ll fall in love with the cast of characters, they’ll become old, fun friends. My one hope is that I create stories that satisfy any of your book cravings and take you away from the rut of everyday life (sometimes it's a good rut).
When I’m not writing I’m spinning (riding a stationary bike, repurposing Happy Planners, or drinking a London Fog (hot tea with frothy milk).
I’m the mom of 2 and a milspouse (retired). We live in the Pacific Northwest and are under-prepared if one of the volcanoes erupts. Here are 3 things about me: • I lived on the outskirts of an active volcano (Mt.Etna) • A spider bit me and it laid eggs in my arm (my kids don’t know that story yet) • I grew up in Central Florida and have skied in lakes with gators.

Book 1: Lottie Pursues Bill: 4-stars
Book 2: Mary Captures Colonel: 4-stars
Matchmaker’s Guide: Meryton Matchmaker’s Confidential Client Questionnaire: 3-stars: I think this is book 4 and I read it out of sequence.
‘Lydia Wins Wickham’ is Book 3 in the Meryton Matchmaker series. This was a very strange story. I was upset with book 2 because nothing was settled. Darcy and Elizabeth were fighting all over the place, she was angry, mad as a wet hen and was constantly taking it out on him. Darcy was so in love with her that he couldn’t even carry on a conversation around her. And yet, he was trying to help save her business while she vacillated between wanting to slap him silly or have him kiss her senseless. She was all over the place and didn’t know what to do.
Mama Bennet was a poison pen gossip journalist with a rag column and trashed the reputations of everyone within her sphere of influence and even took a jab at her own children and their business. She was vicious, cruel and loved gossip even if she had to create it herself.
The one point I found interesting was what the author did with George Wickham. Wow! That was really creative and I found that I liked him… dang… I didn’t want to go there, but I did. Who knew? And the pairing with Lydia was really good. I liked them together. I think I bit my tongue when I said that. It’s not a spoiler as the title gives it away.
I am having a really hard time dealing with Elizabeth. I want to shake her until those rocks in her skull fall out. I am so upset with her and her treatment of Darcy. No matter what he does or says… she is ready to blast him… think the worst of him and condemn him to the deepest hottest part of Hell. And yet the budding feelings are confusing the heck out of her until the point I want to slit my own throat. Wake up, you silly chit. I have one more book to go. Onward to book 5 ‘Honeymoon Postponed: A Mr. & Mrs. Darcy Adventure: A Meryton Matchmaker Short’ at 72 pages… either I’ve missed a book somewhere or there is a crap load of stuff to wrap up.
Third book in the serie, normally I am not so much in Modern Jane Austen books but I must say this one is a good one - I like that the characters are still like by Austen and in each book one couple is the main one - here it is Lydia and Wickham but still you have the story around Lizzy and Darcy. Hope there will a book in which we finally read the happy ending from Lizzy and Darcy. Thanks for sending me this book for free.
Wow I loved the Meryton Matchmakers. I can't wait to read the whole series. Lydia and Wickham are so cute together. They each see the real person in the other one. More than anyone else sees. A great read!
Lizzy and Darcy's story continue Will she ever give him a break. Does he deserve one. But now Geo (George) Wickham comes to Meryton. Is it possible that Lydia is interested. An enjoyable story
Jane Austen at her best. Kristi Rose has done it again, you feel as if you are reading Pride and Rejudice all over again but in the 21th Century. Lydia and Wickham met and there is a connection between them. Meanwhile Elisabeth is struggling to make Merton Matchmakers work while deciding how she feel about Willian Darcy. A very lovingly story.
This modern version starts off with Elizabeth's mind and feelings being scrambled by Fitzwilliam Darcy. After almost losing their business, Meryton Matchmakers, Darcy proposes even though they've never dated. Well thought out, right? Just like Austen's Regency original, misunderstandings hang between our favorite characters from the beginning of this story. In steps bad boy Wickham as a client for Meryton Matchmakers. All five daughters work at the business, Lydia behind the interview camera and beautician. Still ditzy, but has more brain cells that work to her advantage. Figures out Wickham's weakness and together she changes his life, attitude, and wins his hand in marriage. Darcy still wants to win Elizabeth's love, but can't seem to stop messing up by saying the wrong thing, and still has hateful Caroline clinging to his arm. Elizabeth's mind is so messed up by her conflicting feelings about Darcy that she blows a big matchmaker get together with mismatched couples. Lydia and Wickham "save" the evening, but Mrs. Bennet's job as a reporter for a gossip magazine just about "kills" the business. Pride and Prejudice play through this story start to finish between our main characters to some of Meryton Matchmakers' clients.
Rose has written a delightful modern day Pride and Prejudice. I enjoyed the characters and the storyline. It would most enjoyable to read this book as part of the series.
I recommend this to fans of Pride and a Prejudice.
I voluntarily read and reviewed a complementary, advance copy of this book.
I like this book, it is fun even though initially a bit slow. But you will love it. The story-line, the characters are enjoyable. A book for all that loves a new modern story similar to "Pride and Prejudice" I received a copy by the author and this is my honest review.
The first 45% was a hole lot of nothing, then it picked up and was both thrilling and romantic. The first half was 2 stars but the second was 4 stars and I ended up with an average 3.
The HEA in this was surprising and well written. Too little time however, was spent on interaction between ODC.
Will still read the last book in this series when it gets released. I must see if the author can write something as lovely as the short story "honeymone postponed " was, which was the first I read of this author.
A fast and short read that gets exciting if you can get past the first half.
