रा. स्व. संघ में आए नये स्वयंसेवकों को संघ के विस्तारित स्वरूप, असंख्य उच्च विद्या विभूषित कार्यकर्ता गण, सम्पन्न अधिकारी वर्ग, संघ कार्यार्थ अपना सारा जीवन समर्पित करने वाले हजारों संघ-प्रचारक, सब प्रकार की सुविधाओं से युक्त कार्यालय, और चारों ओर ’संघ’ के नाम का दबदबा ही अनुभव में आता और दिखाई देता है। यह सही है कि, विगत 70 वर्षों की लगातार साधना के फल स्वरूप ही संघ आज एक विशाल वट वृक्ष की भांति खड़ा हुआ दिखाई देता है। उसकी जड़ें भी इतनी रसमय हैं कि उसकी अनेक शाखाएं भी वट वृक्ष की तरह फलती- फुलती दिखाई देने लगी हैं। किंतु मूल रूप में संघ कैसा था, उसका बीजारोपण कैसे हुए, जलसिंचन कैसे हुआ, उसकी देखभाल, संवर्धन किस तरह से किया गया- आदि बातों की सम्यक जानकारी नये स्वयंसेवकों को नहीं होती। वही जानकारी इस पुस्तक में देने का प्रयास किया है और वह भी अत्यंत सुबोध-सरल भाषा में होने से सभी के लिए पठनीय बन गयी है।

If you're interested to know about how the conception of the idea of Sangh came up, this is a perfect source. Written very concisely, each chapter takes you through how each aspect of RSS took shape, both in thought and form.
The first half focuses very well on the prevalent conditions in Indian society during early 20th century, the nature of social and political movements and some crucial factors they were unable to tap.
With a thought on this at the background it goes on to explain why the need of sometime like RSS was felt.
The subsequent chapters talk about how each aspect in the RSS structure, ideals, symbolism came up with time.
