Join Willie the worm, Jeremy the bird and the rest of the gang in the first book in the Royal Tortoise Tale series. A series of books that will reveal the secret world of the animal kingdom.
Susan Moffat, author of the Royal Tortoise Tale series, lives in England with her husband and son, and lots of fish (all with very different personalities).
Susan illustrates all her own books, and has always had a passion for literature and art. Susan also enjoys scrapbooking and reading.
Susan is particularly fond of tortoises ever since reading Small Gods by Terry Pratchett.
I can honestly say my inner child loves to come out and play. Usually, it’s done as a way of messing with my friends with puns, wiseguy remarks, and so on, but I also love cartoons and children’s story books from time to time.
The story is a simple and enjoyable little adventure with a plot I found entertaining and that’ll keep children hooked as they follow Alfonso in his search for food and trying to find forgiveness from his parents, the King and Queen.
My favorite part is the illustrations. While simple in design, they’re full of color and their cuteness matches the story perfectly. It was fun to look at each image and I even chuckled at some of them. They balanced the story and really brought the story alive.
As a parent’s view it is always fun to read a book with your child. And, this book of Susan’s was no different. I enjoyed reading this book with Hayden just as much as he enjoyed listening to it. We talked throughout the story for he always asks many questions when a book is being read. We laughed as well at several different parts of the story.
Prince Alfonso was a cute little tortoise that woke up one morning and found no breakfast in his bowl. He adventured throughout the garden in seek of something yummy. He met new friends who offered their help in trying to fill his tummy.
My son especially liked Alfonso and Jeremy.
As a parent, I highly recommend this book as a joyful time to bond with your child by reading a cute funny tale about Alfonso the Tortoise.
Alfonso the Tortoise is a wonderful story for both girls and boys. We hind out how a tortoise... Prince goes in search of his breakfast. What he finds along the way are new friends as well as a lesson or two, especially about forgiveness and little critter friends. The author does a wonderful job of illustrating her book, the images are bright and invite children to follow the story and ask questions. If your children enjoy fun, investigative stories then this is the perfect book!
