"Samantha needs to understand who she is, where she came from, why we are who, and what, we are.”

After a death-defying fall, Detective Samantha “Sam” Karolyi hopes to use her leave from work to heal her body, and care for her aging grandfather, Ivan. But a series of strange incidents intrudes on her rehabilitation – a drug addict gutted in an alley; a young thief’s suicide by bus; bodies disappearing from the City Mortuary – and Sam realizes that something is terribly wrong in New York City.

When her grandfather is attacked by a vicious animal and left for dead, Sam begins an investigation that places her directly in the path of one of these animals, an encounter that leaves Sam wounded… And infected with Lycanthropic Virus.

Werewolves, creatures of legend, now roam the streets of New York City.

As she struggles through the physical and emotional transformation process, Sam – along with her partner, Lenny; her childhood friend, Ben; and a mysterious “Man in Black” – begins to uncover the truth about these werewolves, and the truth about the BLOODLINE.

Always a spinner of tales, Gabriella Messina’s journey as an author began in the realm of screenwriting. Whether writing fantasy or crime fiction, short stories, or full-length novels, Ms. Messina brings a fresh point of view and a pearl of snarky wisdom to her work, exploring science, justice, faith, and feeling in equal measure.

When not writing, she enjoys indulging in her favorite “guilty pleasures”: coffee and chocolate, watching car racing with her son, and spending too much time looking at music videos online.

Bloodline by Gabriella Messina is a fast paced adventure that I thoroughly enjoyed. I have read many werewolf novels, and this one is my favourite, by a landslide. It's hard to be original in this genre, but the author keeps it fresh with believable, well-drawn characters. Wether its dealing with a large cast of main characters, or those with shorter roles, I found it easy to see the individual identity of each one. I hope to read more from Gabriella and can recommend this for a good read.

I won a copy of this book in a giveaway and am glad I did!

Bloodline by Gabriella Messina is the first of what will hopefully be a multi-book series about Detective Samantha Karolyi, her friends Detective Lenny Jackson and Ben Lewis, and “the man in black”, Vincent Kremer. Samantha, while out on medical leave, takes her grandfather to the hospital for a checkup not knowing it is a hotbed of Nazi-werewolves who have been searching for him since the camps at Auschwitz were liberated. Becoming impatient he leaves the hospital alone and is attacked by a werewolf. Don' want to give spoilers, but from there things spiral out of control for Samantha as she tries to put the pieces of the puzzle together after being attacked herself, while waiting for her imminent first turning. This is a real page turner and a great action book. Oh, and did I mention Vincent is hot?

Werewolves like you've never met before.

I loved Bloodline. I love the mix of history, mystery, and of course werewolves. You can feel the emotions that Sam goes through and the intensity of the changes that she tries to fight against. The way the story is written and with such detail, gives you an immense attachment to the characters. Wonderfully written and I cannot wait for the next book!

This story drew me in and kept me intrigued to the very end. The idea for this is very unique, and would make for an excellent television or movie series! I'm rooting for certain things to happen with these characters and trying to guess the motives for other things that have already happened...this will be one I daydream about. I am impatiently awaiting a sequel!!

Fascinated

Ms. Messina draws a flowing story of a wicked world where monsters lurk among the people. A mutation, if you will many years in the making. Sam is special and because of hereditary traits and a run in with a monster, now fears for her life. Although a highly respected police officer, her grandfather has sent for a protector in one Vincent Kremer. Me thinks the pheromones may win out in Quicksilver. ... Brilliantly written will captivate from first word to last

A different kind of shifter tale...

...that I really enjoyed. The characters were interesting and the premise of the story different from the usual werewolf story. It did take me a little while to get used to the changing narrators, and thus point of view, but I liked it.

Totally enjoyed this reading experience. It was a little different and extremely well thought-out. The pace and action fast and intriguing held us to the page very easily as did the certain sexual tension that was never really satisfied. It has made the next book very appealing.
