West Coast Soulmates #1

The Pianist Plays It Slow

Rate this book
Takes place after COMPLETED and DYLAN AND JEN.

With most of the band coupled up now, Mike is now the seventh wheel. Realizing he hasn't cultivated a life outside the band in years is a lonely epiphany. When a young woman mistakes him for someone else, the awkward encounter turns into a possibility for something real. Something lasting. Something like love.

Hannah, a recent arrival in L.A., is looking for a connection in her new life. Despite meeting Mike under less-than-ideal circumstances, she accepts his invitation to a Memorial Day BBQ with his friends, never expecting them to be famous rockstars with hearts of gold. Mike couldn't be nicer and sparks are flying, so when he insists on taking their time to get to know each other, part of her is flattered and the other side is frustrated he won't get naked. How far can she tease him before he gives in?

Settle in for a sweet and spicy romance in the My Once and Future Love Revisited universe where finding yourself means finding true love. This story is intended for readers over the age of 18 due to adult language, sexual content, and adult situations.

Mike and Brian Jorgenson are twins, but far from friends. Brian is the self-obsessed manwhore who is devious and toxic to everyone around him. His brother, Mike, is the kindhearted one who cleans up his brother's messes. Mike is the pianist in the band, his brothers, and he's starting to feel like the odd man out since all of his friends are paired up. He's looking for more of a relationship than a one night stand. Hannah has a menial job, she calls herself a data entry drone, and today is her birthday. She's desperately missing her father since his passing a few months ago, and it's the first time in her life that she won't hear from him on her special day. She meets a stranger, who happens to be Brian, who does what he does best and begins the seduction. This is all new to Hannah and she believes what he tells her, but she goes to surprise him with lunch and sees him with another woman. The next morning she's still furious and goes to confront him, but it's not Brian who answers the door, it's Mike. After slapping him almost silly, they straighten things out and it appears that Mike wants to be the one to replace his cold-hearted brother with some real caring. But he doesn't want to move fast. He wants her to know that she's safe with him and thus begins the slowest burn I've read in recent memory. It's a wonderful book with the reappearance of Jake, Beth and the rest of the band, but I wanted to jump through the pages and tell Mike to just hurry up! Hannah was so frustrated and after months of no moving forward, she'd had enough. Their lack of communication was dreadful and I was a little unsure that they could ever have a HEA. It all worked out and the ending made me very happy!

"Getting home should’ve been a relief, and it was… until I realized how empty the rest of my day was.
My week.
My life." - Hannah

Hannah, new in town, alone, lonely... A one night stand gone wrong... Or maybe, right?

"I needed a life. No one on the outside would believe it, but fame was isolating. When we were all single, we were always together, but now…I’d discovered I had nothing to do when we weren’t working. No other good friends. No hobbies." - Mike

Mike, the responsible, older twin, always cleaning up his brother's messes and mistakes, wonders if perhaps, just once, a mistake has become a prize...

Two wounded people, afraid to trust yet drawn to each other; can they heal each other, or will they shatter?

The Pianist Is part of a serie but can be read as a standalone (it's my first read from this author and I had no problem to dive into her world).
That was the first time I read a book with an evil twin plot and it was really great : it gave some unique in-depth in Mike's character and quite some laughs.
I loved Hannah. I loved the mix between the awkward small town girl in the big city and the Lust Bunny. It was really nice to see the female character chasing the guy for once.
That book is funny, sweet, sometimes heartbreaking and I'll definitely go back from the beginning and read Carla Krae's other books.

¡¿ESTE LIBRO?! ¡¿HOLA?!

I am in love with Mike. A hot geek that makes good is as irresistible as catnip to me. This book took me through just about every emotion available. It's funny and tragic, sweet and heartbreaking. Most of the story I wanted to cuddle up to Mike and tell him that everything would work out in the end. Even though his musical career is everything he could wish for, Mike's personal life has not had as many successes. Hannah's personal life hasn't fared any better. Together they're a comedy of errors, miscommunication, and missed timings. They're perfect for one another but they manage to be perfectly wrong together on so many occasions. It was wonderful to see them work so hard to grow into their best selves for each other and for themselves. I loved watching them interacting Mike's band mates and their partners. The good-natured teasing and family vibe made it apparent just how much they all cared about each other. Seeing Mike's musical family in action makes me want to backtrack and read the books before this that I haven't read yet.

This second in the spin-off series is a delightful book to read. Mike is one determined guy; not only in his career but also in his personal life. He does everything he can to make sure he's nothing like his brother, even if that means slowing down his relationship with Hannah. He has a strong sense of character and knows exactly what he wants, and he is a nice change of pace from the chest-thumping alphas in most romances. Hannah is young and sweet, sincere and knows her own mind. One of the best parts is that we get to reunite with the rest of the band members (and their partners). I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

A cute, slow paced romance. Mike meets Hannah when she mistakes him for his twin brother. At first they just hang out and there is a connection but Mike is looking for more than a hookup since most of his band mates have someone in their life. I enjoyed reading their story, I think it had a good flow that kept me invested and didn't want to put down. I've read Dylan and Jen's story which you can get for free right now. Need to go and read Jake and Beth and any other of the band mates if they have.

I received an ARC and volunteered to leave a review.
