Good advice to live by as fathers, even if the chapters seemed to wander a bit from their stated title. I thoroughly enjoyed the lengthy quotes from Church documents at the beginning of each chapter. They were a good anchor for each chapter's topic.

This is a very comprehensive book that describes the role of a father in the family. It is written from the Catholic faith tradition perspective yet looks at the contemporary concerns and challenges that a father faces with his family. It talked about a father's role as a teacher to his children, a spiritual leader of the domestic Church (the family), as a provider, and also as a husband to his wife.

This book is highly recommended especially for men who are fathers or who are discerning a call to marriage. It is good resource to review one's role and responsibility as a father or a view into marriage if one is discerning or is called to the married life.

A beautiful, and honest take on Fatherhood in the modern world. The author delves deeply into the profound tragedies of the modern world's opinion of fatherhood and family, but instills a profound sense of hope that comes from one tethering himself to the Church's stance on Love, human dignity, and authentic daily self-sacrifice. My one critique is that the cover picture does not do the book justice, and gives the impression it is full of smarmy and simple concepts, which it is NOT.

I read this at my husband's recommendation, and I'm so glad I did! Though the title suggests it is for fathers, it is also for wives and mothers to understand our husband's calling and our role in it.

A book filled with timeless advice, not only for the father, but for parenting. Each chapter beginning with quotes from papal documents are perfect excerpts leading into the topic of the chapter.
