Nate McCoy is a bad boy through and through. He doesn’t give a damn about anyone or anything and has broken more hearts than he can count. So why have they hired an inexperienced little Southern Belle like me to keep him under control? Because I’m the only one that can resist his charms. I’m not gonna be tossed aside like all the other girls. I’ll reel Nate in and save his career if it’s the last thing I do!
Nate
I don’t do relationships. I do passionate one night stands that leave them all begging for more. So what if a few hearts get broken in the process? That’s just part of the game. Then Darcy walks into my life and ignites a fire inside me like no one else. I’ll have her and use her just like I do with all the others…unless there’s something more to be had…
*Starring me and You is a standalone romance with no cheating and a HEA. Due to the adult nature of the book’s content it is recommended for adults only.*'
Nate doesn't do relationships. Commitment is synonymous with death. Or something like that. As Hollywood's hottest commodity, he gets away with most, has his pick of beautiful women, and has developed quite the disgusting reputation. Darcy, an unpaid intern for a celeb gossip rag, is hired to help curb Nate's inappropriate impulses and keep his rep clean in the days leading up to the release of his latest blockbuster. What happens when the temptation becomes too great for both of them?
I liked this story. I really did. While I enjoyed the plot, the characters, however, were a little off. I didn't like Darcy. I honestly tried to, but this heroine wasn't winning herself any points. She was judgmental, condescending, and an utter itchbay. Yup. I just threw in that pig latin right there. She was a Negative Nancy without just cause and she constantly verbally attacked Nate based on her own ignorant assumptions. Her facts (or lack thereof) lacked substance and I was supposed to believe she was a journalist. Although I really liked Nate, as he was the only character who I felt deserved my attention, I failed to connect with him because he came off as one-dimensional. He has an interesting back story and I wanted more of it. I wanted it to give him meaning. I wanted to feel the essence of his first defining moment. We get bits and pieces but not enough for the full picture.
Overall it was an interesting and entertaining story. I'd probably rate it higher if Darcy had an attitude adjustment and Nate's character was fleshed out more. Actually, give me more of Nate and not so much of Darcy.
Release Date: April 28, 2017 Genre: Contemporary Romance POV: Dual - 1st person Steam: 3 out of 5 Book Type: Standalone
Sweet and shy Tennessee girl Darcy is trying to live her dream life with her dream job at a movie magazine in Los Angeles. But after a few months she’s still just a lowly intern. But then her boss offers her a huge job: be the chaperone for movie star bad boy Nate! Make sure he’s not in the tabloids with negative headlines every single day! Also, don’t sleep with him, or you won’t get paid! Ha! She would never be attracted to such manwhore, and he won’t even notice this country girl with the non-Hollywood figure! Wrong! On both accounts. ☺
I really enjoyed this story. It was fun and sexy and adorable. But also a bit too predictable and just not NEW. We’ve had those exact stories in books and movies and million times. But we, or at least I, still love to read them. Nate was adorable – not so much in the beginning, but he grew on me. And Darcy is sweet and not shy with him. Although it’s all a bit too fast and insta and hm – don’t even know what it is. But I liked it. Finished it in one quick sitting. Wasn’t a waste of my time. It has potential for more, but it wasn’t mega-bad or anything.
In true Colleen Hoover fashion let me start with a CONFESSION. I #CONFESS that lately I found myself truly reluctant to accept review copies of authors that have not yet published anything. Why ? you wonder… because more often than not those others confused the request to review a book with the so called “beta-reading” or even worse the expected some sort of “editing”. So it took Ella Bradshaw quite some convincing to bring me tor read her debut novel “Starring Me and You -A Bad Boy Movie Star Romance”
I gave her some pointers that much I admit and I also told her she still needs to put an official Blurb to this book. Because already for my review I need that Blurb to know how much I can tell about the storyline as I try to avoid spoilers at all costs.
As that is still no Blurb let me work with what I can say for sure. For a debut novel this book is really well done. I still found some typos in it but they were in a very obvious way so I am pretty sure that Ella will do her best to erase those as fast as possible. The writing style is everything I would expect from a novel with that title and the plot can hold that promise.
There were some “are you serious” moments for me and I think I had one “that is to obivious” moment too, when it came to the story development BUT only a few pages later Ella surprised me with a total different direction. Like in one of those moments when you follow the show of a magician staring into the intended direction while suddenly something happens right behind you.
And I admit there were also some of the “cliché” moments that you would expect in this kind of novel. But I was totally fine with those. I am pretty sure this book will find fans within the community of “Hollywood/Actor Romance Novels”.
The way it is now I would rate it with 3.5 Stars – showing 4 here on Goodreads. The 0.5 is for the typos and the missing 5th star is due to the fact that I had no emotional outbursts (read my reviewing regulations for an explanation to that)
Anyway I can recommend this Book and I hope that the author will soon make the necessary changes and publishes it so others can enjoy it.
I am voluntarily reviewing Starring Me and You by Ella Bradshaw for receiving an Advanced Reader Copy.
This was a great book. I was really surprised by the way it ended. He is a movie star and she is a nobody intern at a gossip magazine who is hired to "babysit" him until the his new movie is out. She doesn't treat him like everyone else does. He is used to everyone doing whatever he wants to keep him happy but she doesn't. She tells him like it is. He finds himself falling for her even though he doesn't realize it. When he is blindsided by a fake romance with his co-star she decided to leave and go back to her parents farm. Does he straighten things out and win her back or is she lost to him forever? I can't wait to read more by this author.
I wanted to love this book, but the hero made himself pretty unlovable. Usually the bad boys come around in the end, but Nate never did for me. Also, the spelling errors drove me crazy. I can’t complain too much about the editing since I didn’t pay for it (Kindle Unlimited), but it ruins the reading experience when I have to interpret what the author was trying to say.
A nice, feel good romance. Horrific proofreading. Reads like a rough, first draft full of grammatical errors and typos that sadly really hurt its readability.
This is the story of Nate and Darcy. Nate is definitely a bad boy. He is so bad that his publicist hires him a babysitter for a few months to keep him in line till his new movie is released. Darcy is said babysitter that is hired. She is an underappreciated intern at an entertainment magazine. She is hired because she isn't Nate's type but that doesn't bother her because she has no plans to succumb to Nate and his charms. In all honesty I didn't care for Nate for all that much till well over halfway through the book. He was arrogant, cocky and selfish. It was nice to see him change for the better the close he got to Darcy. I really liked Darcy. She was strong, independent, and didn't put up with any of Nate's crap. The two definitely became better people the more they spent time together. I really enjoyed this book. It was a quick, light and sexy read. It was well written and had well developed characters. I am definitely looking forward to reading more by Ella Bradshaw in the future. I voluntarily read an arc copy for my honest review!
