Angel Unlucky

Rate this book
Sometimes bad things happen to good Angels...er, Angels who try to be good. So my adventures continue...but not as I'd hoped. The tables have turned. My crush/best friend has moved on. And my unhealthy infatuation--a half-breed demon--has been avoiding me. Time for a change of plans. If only I could erase my mind of all men and stop the recent streak of bad luck. But first I suppose I should figure out how to assist my fellow Angels with Earth's newest threat.

This high quality fantasy tale about a sassy pants and fiery angel is a wild ride. The narrator does a great job bringing all the characters to life!

Abbigail is an Angel in the Demon Control division, which means she spends her working shifts locating demons who have violated rules and need to be punished. Each punishable offense is marked by am Angel's thumb print on their chest. When the unlucky demon receives his third strike (thumb mark) they are sent to hell for a 1 to 5 month sentence before they are allowed back on earth.

When Abby chases demon #8893 aka Cletus Cruise, she comes across a puppy HOH (Hound  of Hell) and a dog fighting ring of HOH run by Cletus. After sending Cletus to hell, Abby must take his truck to use because she has wrecked the car she was driving to find him. Throughout the book she has to drive the "redneck truck" while her car is being repaired. If that isn't bad enough, she has adopted the HOH puppy and hidden him at home, but not before he licks her near the mouth and gives Abby an infection that even an Angel can't immediately cure. She tries to hide it under a bandage, but the wrong people notice and comment about it. To make matters worse, on the same day as the HOH puppy is discovered, there is a new Office Manager who is starting work that day.

Abby is in one of those good day-bad day "lives" as she watches the manager (good) lust at her best friend (bad) and he after her (definitely bad) while getting caught with a HOH (oh so bad) and being snubbed by her former love (so bad and so sad). Of course that doesn't stop the job or the demon who is after Abby, not to mention the Angel who has a lot of explaining to do and punishment to receive!  When all is said and done, this is an exciting book down to the last page. I have to admit I am a little surprised at some of what happened, and can't wait to read the next book to see how things change!

The author does an excellent job of keeping you reading. The characters and their jobs are so realistic that you forget that we don't normally see and hear Angels going about their business in northern Colorado! The line is pretty blurry between imagination and realism, and makes for one of the most enjoyable books I have read this year. Don't miss this series!
