Cynthia Fridsma

As far back as she can remember, Cynthia has been listening to exciting stories told by her mother. She grew up reading books from Edgar Allan Poe, H. P. Lovecraft, and Philip K. Dick, among others.

It was Cynthia’s mother who inspired her to start telling—and writing—her own stories.

Ms. Fridsma’s writing career started after a handicap in 2014—she has a tremor in her right hand, numbness in the fingers, and pain in her wrist. She had to give up her other creative outlets, such as photography, computer programming, and gave up on juggling, so focused on what she could do rather than what she couldn’t do.

Besides writing, she sometimes plays guitar—in Jimi Hendrix style.

Cynthia lives with her husband and pet rabbit Max in Amsterdam

Sybil is a vampire who works for the government. She is tasked with finding Joesf Mengele, the Angel of Death himself and it will take everything she has to bring him down. A fast paced read. I would recommend it.

Sybil is a vampire who is desperately trying to live as a human by injecting herself with silver. She has broken up with her boyfriend to keep him and his two daughters safe, but when they are in a car accident, she rushes to his side. As events unfold, she has no idea what she is about to face.
I enjoyed reading about Sybil but there is a wide cast of characters including Catherine and Jack from Black Widow, so there are plenty of people to keep the story going. I liked the idea of a famous serial killer being resurrected who wasn't Jack the Ripper, as most stories seem to do. At times the dialogue felt a little false with characters explaining stuff in a way no one would speak in real life, but I thought overall it was a good book and i would recommend it.

I wrote an honest review in exchange for a free copy. This is the third of a series of novels featuring vampire Sybil, who works as a freelance agent for the ATU (Anti-Terrorism Unit) in the USA. This is a world in which vampires and ghosts and undead exist, and in which evil entities are trying to return to our world. In this book the evil Dr Mengele, of Auschwitz notoriety, has returned and is trying to gain power. Sibyl and her colleagues are trying to recover a magical book which they think will aid them. Unusually, the book is set close to the present day, and makes reference to near-contemporary real-world events.
The action is fast-paced with plenty of tense situations, shootouts, exploding bodies and the like. There are fascinating details, as when Sibyl breaks off her fangs to hide her vampire nature. Sibyl wants to become human, but this does not go well.
The story is good, with the tension rising to a climax, but on the minus side there seem to be too many characters who are not distinguished by adequate characterization, making it hard to remember who they all are. The settings often do not have enough description to give a clear sense of place.
However the book deserves an extra star for the revelation at the end. :-)
