Exploiting Poker Tells is the third and final book in Zachary Elwood's acclaimed Reading Poker Tells trilogy of books. This book focuses on practical, real-world considerations, answering questions When great poker reads are made, what factors are involved? What behaviors are important to pay attention to when making a decision? What behaviors can be ignored and why? This book - 140+ detailed hand histories, some played by the author, and some played by other pro players - Interviews with well-known poker players about poker tells they've used - A poker tells quiz to test and reinforce learning The author's blog and ebooks are available at www.readingpokertells.com. REVIEWS "Reinforces many of the concepts he's covered [in previous books], in addition to introducing new ones, and gives the reader useful ways of thinking about common opponent tendencies." - Dan Podheiser, pro poker player "I finished a second read [of Exploiting Poker Tells]. I'd assumed that it would just be an appendix, but I think this book may be your best work." - J.K. Troell, poker player
Absolutely loved this book. I've been reading it extremely slowly over a year, so I can apply the information. Now that I'm done I feel like I have to read it a few more times.
There's so much good information to unpack here. If you commit to the process it will help you so much at the tables.
I considered myself a rank amateur with poker tells before this book. I grew up as a professional poker player online. I still find I have much to learn about the live game. That said, with Exploiting Poker Tells, I was able to establish more reads in live tournaments and push myself ahead of the pack. I'm feeling far more confident than I used to feel on the live felt. I can't wait to read it again!
Some very good information on tells. I find Elwood's information far more applicable and reliable than any other book on tells that I've read. I only give three stars because it's pretty tough to read. It is pretty repetitive and boring at times. Definitely not a page-turner.
About two years ago, Casino City was given a lifetime membership to Zachary Elwood's excellent Reading Poker Tells video series in exchange for an honest review, which I provided here. (The series has grown since then — there were only 19 videos at the time; now there are 29 — and let me tell you, having a lifetime membership is great.) Last year, Elwood came out with another book, his third on the subject of tells, Exploiting Poker Tells.
