Sebi y La Tierra Del Chachacha

Rate this book

Despite the colorful, detailed, and whimsical pictures, this books is a bit of a disappointment. The premise is weak: the friends pass through a hedge in a park, and find themselves in the tropical Land of Chachacha. There, parrots, monkeys and squirrels teach them 3 Latin dances. The instructions the animals give the kids are difficult to imagine/follow, so this reader went to the video link mentioned on the back cover of the book. The video was of a dance class for 4 and 5-year-olds, including the authors' daughter Sebella. While the class clarifies the steps for each of the dances (chachacha, merengue, and samba), the video seems little more than a vehicle for audiences to admire the precocious and naturally talented little Sebi.
I wish I liked this book more, because I think it has potential.
