Fr. Marcelline Jayakody was one of the most beloved Catholic priests in Sri Lanka who is well-remembered for his musical gift. He was an excellent musician, poet and a lyricist. I think children loved him. As a child, I loved his songs.
What is unique about this biography is that it is written by a Sri Lankan Buddhist monk, Ven. Ittepana Dhammaloka Thera. The title ‘Malpale Upan Pansale Piyathuma’ means " the priest of the temple who was born in 'Malpele'. ('Malapele' was the name given to Fr. Jaykody's family home because of its beautiful garden full of flowers.
I think, I was around 16 years old when I read this book for the first time. Sadly, this is an out-of-print book. As I remember, this was a very interesting reading.
