To save one child, she must risk the life of another...

Hired to transport a donor clone across the country for the heart transplant needed to save her nephew’s life, private detective Fallon Monroe never expected to be hunted by terrorists, dirty cops, and vigilantes. Her attraction to the mysterious soldier who saves her life doesn’t help matters. She’s been down the “married man” road before, with disastrous results.

To survive his future, he must accept his past...

Special Ops lieutenant John White has only just awakened from a coma when a terrified woman bursts into his hospital room, followed by two terrorists who want to kill her and the child in her care. Before he remembers what put him into a coma he’s on the run with beautiful Fallon and her strangely advanced clone child, unwilling to think too hard on exactly what he was doing in a hospital devoted to cloning studies.

I have just finished a story by another fabulous new-to-me author who had me on the edge of my seat in suspense, crying and laughing, morally debating cloning and hot and twitchy with short, but steamy sex scenes.

LAST RIGHTS by Ava Bradley was a romantic suspense set in the future that starts from the very first page at jet speed and does not let up.

P.I. Fallon Monroe is sent by her sister to retrieve her nephew’s clone for life saving heart transplant surgery. Fallon soon comes to realize this clone is not just a lump of cells, but an exceptionally gifted little boy who calls himself, Jamie. The cloning company does not want people to know the true reality of the clones and a terrorist group wants to set this child up as a symbol to get the country to change the cloning laws.

Special Ops Lieutenant John White is awakened from a medically induced healing coma as Fallon and Jamie burst into his hospital room attempting escape. He does not know why, but he knows he has to protect these two above all else. John and Fallon will do anything to protect Jamie, but each is also harboring a secret that they fear could change the feelings that are beginning to blossom between them.

I did not want to put this book down. The chase and suspense were always constant. Fallon, John and Jamie are wonderfully realistic characters that I fell in love with. Cloning is debated, not just in the hypothetical, but by making you fall in love with characters it effects and makes you think about what you would do and how you feel. I never felt it was preachy because the author made you feel Fallon’s heart wrenching decisions as she made them.

This story had everything I am looking for in a romantic suspense and more. I highly recommend this story and I will definitely be looking for more from this author.

Suspense and romance

Romantic suspense is my favorite reading combination, regardless of the genre, and Ava Bradley does it extremely well.
Her characters, all of them, are well fleshed out and their actions and motivations are understandable, if sometimes indefensible; the bad guys.
Her books have warmth, heart, people you have to root for, and people you hope the author will deal decisively with.
Best of all, at the end of the story you can be sure you and your hero and heroine will get the happy ending we deserve.
Enjoy!

Excellent read

Ava Bradley did a great job of world building and character development. I couldn’t put “Last Rights” down. She approached the possibly of medical cloning with clarity and empathy.

I would like to start by saying this is not generally a book I would have chosen for myself…However once I started to read this story I found it hard to put down.

Last Rights deals with traveling in the year 2224. Fallon is sent by her sister to obtain her nephew’s clone. He is needed to save the originals life. For me usually I get lost when reading something that is unfathomable for me to grasp. But to tell you something I was able to follow this story line and it made sense. I found myself to continue to read just to find out what was going to happen to Fallon and Jamie (the clone).

They ended up in John’s room that was in an induced coma in order to heal. He comes out of it and feels the urge to protect these two as they are running to save their lives.

For me the pages just needed to keep being turned to find out the outcome. I guess you could say it was all about the chase, the suspense which was constant.

The morality issues on cloning and organ harvesting was well researched to where you were able to actually understand both sides. It made it easy to understand the characters views; making them all the more realistic. I was able to put myself in the shoes of the characters making it easy to relate to their plights.

While laughing and crying Ms. Bradley threw in some hot and steamy love scenes. They may not have been very long leaving a lot or maybe not much to the imagination whichever way you want to see it.

So if you want something a little different that keeps you on the edge of your seat and is very entertaining give Last Rights a try. You might find a new author and be pleasantly surprised. I know I was.

The story built slowly, focuing on the intriguing idea of cloning humans, mingled with all kinds of social dilemas. Fallon is forced to team up with John to save a little boy called Jamie, who just happens to be a clone. A human rights group wants to kill her, the police to apprehend her, news stations to condem her, many of the public to judge her and she has no idea who to trust. The romance scenes were primal and yet beautifully tender. I wriggled to the edge of my seat with anticipation as the danger increased.

It was interesting to see the differing points of view of the characters and how a technique that started out to save lives, was manipulated into a money-making scheme.
