Southern Cross paints a spectacularly terrifying picture of a dystopian world; one of deepening inequalities, brutal regimes, and unbridled corporate dominance. Robin Mann, a solitary and disaffected company executive, is drawn into a beguiling group of radicals committed to altering the trajectory of the world. But their extraordinary talents and uncompromising methods test Robin's commitment and pose profound moral questions about resistance and how far he is prepared to go.
Robin Ryde is an acclaimed leadership, management, and change expert, and those themes resonate throughout this dystopian, futuristic novel. The main character, a bored corporate executive, is sublimely written. The storyline moves quickly, in more ways than one, and there are sufficient teasers to make you wonder which way things will end. I felt somewhat deflated by the ending as I was expecting more 'big bang' than karmic. However, that did not detract from an enjoyable read. I would recommend this book and any of Robin's teaching on the world of business, change, leadership, and management.
Robin Mann is a bored and distracted company executive who is pulled into a group of radicals who are trying to change the world for the best. However the world is full of inequality, corporate dominance and dreadful regimes and Robin find it hard to commit to their methods and morals.
Great concept with interesting elements from the future and the past all woven into the one story. A must for anyone who enjoys dystopian worlds. Everything was well told and explained, with a good level of detail so that you could feel as if you were there and involved in the events and emotions being experienced in the story.
