She is his past. He is her future.

Ramona Douglas doesn’t believe in destiny or prophecies. At least not until she finds herself catapulted through time after catastrophe strikes Earth. Now she must come to grips with her place in a world where kingdoms are controlled by those with proper birthright, and light and dark majik are at war. Assigned her protector, the fierce Lord Jalomar of Dilseacht, makes her body burn with desire, while his arrogance and steadfastness to duty boils her blood.

Jalomar has never met a more wayward woman than the enigmatic Ramona. Her defiance knows no boundaries, leaving him both reeling with anger and longing for her affection. When she refutes him, as well as the ancient prophecy tying them together, Jalomar’s duty comes at a price he discovers he just may be unwilling to pay.

Ramona is your every day city girl having a great time in New York nightlife when an asteroid hits the earth and changes her world as she knows it. Buried beneath a pile of rubble, she and her best friend Megan are sure they are doomed, but when they are rescued by men in tunics wielding swords and speaking in old English she can barely understand, she is sure she's either inhaled too many toxic fumes or the earth's poles shifted and landed them in a new place on the planet.

Lord Jalomar is born into his role as leader of the Western Hemisphere 1000 years A.A. (After Abbadon--the name of the asteroid that annihilated the planet). When a flash of light alarms him that something is going on outside the castle, he finds ruins of a building on the outskirts of the village. He rescues a group of oddly dressed people from under the pile of rubble. In this group, the Fiery Maiden has emerged, the girl with flaming red hair prophesied to save the planet from an evil queen. But this girl is foul-mouthed, won't wear a dress, and would argue with a mule. Though they can't carry on a conversation without exploding into an argument, she ignites in him a passion he's never known. But how can they save the planet, or find enough common ground to have any sort of relationship if they can't get along for five minutes?

This book is steamy, provocative, humorous, and will cause you to tear up. I loved every single moment of it. Write faster, Ishabelle. You have a talent that is out of this world. Thank you for offering me your book in exchange for an honest review.

FIVE STARS! I am admittedly not a huge sci-fi/fantasy reader (as a subgenre of romance), simply because I'm so PICKY. I love romance, though, and there was something about this one that drew me in. And it didn't just draw me in, it SUCKED me in!

Ishabelle is a wizardly good writer--she keeps the pace up and the surprises coming. I LOVED Jalomar and Ramona's clash, and eventual love. They are hilarious, and something that I love about Ishabelle's writing is how well she pairs the olden (or...in this case...future olden) times with the modern times. This book has it all--wit, sparkling dialogue, steamy love, plenty of tension and drama, and all the right questions and villains. You won't want to put it down!

Ms. Torry continues to surprise and amaze me with her absolute passion and desire to spin a good yarn with all the good stuff I love in romance novels.

Maiden of Fire hooked me from page one and the sexy tension between Jalomar and Ramona draws you in and keeps you jonesing for more, more, more. Their interactions are well placed, funny and poignant, giving us glimpses into their characters with just a few words. Ishabelle has an uncanny ability to blend time in waves that aren't confusing but rather comforting and there is never a lag between chapters. If you are into fast paced dialogue, quirky characters, love, tension and some damned fine writing, check this author out.

Starting plot was good but it was difficult to finish. I was tempted to give up a few times.
Ramona was irritating me. I like feisty characters but she was just difficult and her power was useless 99% of the time
Jalomar was useless for a supreme ruler and bodyguard.
I actually prefered Sandread!
