There is definitely something eerie about an encounter with Piotr Iwicki’s Lost Spaces. The artist handles the work’s unwieldy dimensions as if he were effortlessly shifting the scenery elements on a stage. The boldly conceived spaces are never suggestive of effort or exertion. But then conceived is perhaps not the right term, for the astonishing photographic images seem to lack a certain strategy. In contrast to a film or stage director, Iwicki works without a script. He makes discoveries, relies upon sudden inspiration and draws upon experience.
