Fighting monsters that shouldn't exist probably didn't top the list.
Will Everly make it home from dinner in one piece?

Kindle Unlimited pretty sure, but got this on a freebie day. For the writer would ask that they or someone proof the book{s}; it's "its" when it's possessive, which is a bit odd but it's means it is. Also as in too is what it was supposed to be, not to as in toward or whatever. The writing is so choppy kept wondering if it was translated to English from another language or translated in to English by someone who does not natively speak the language {or well enough}. Also use commas, there are way too many wrong sentences and also run-on ones, it made the {audio} reader stutter. Know it was prequel but didn't make sense in quite a few places, so since do have ku will at least look at the next one. Only giving this on a 3 not a 2 because it was prequel short, but will see with next book {so far the sneak peak is not promising to be any less confusing}

Had to hunt down the blurb {listed under 3 set and has blurb there} Everly Thyme has a secret... except she doesn't know it.Everly Thyme is bored, or is she just living a boring life with her boring boyfriend from her boring job where she works with her boring roommate? What she needs is a new life...one would think. Until an unexpected letter arrives from an unexpected source. A simple dinner invitation. An invitation to a world she didn't know existed and one she won't soon forget. The invitation comes with a few strings though, or shackles depending on your viewpoint. Some might even exchange the word invitation for summons but potatoh,, potahto right? What could possibly be so bad about an exciting new life? What strings could there be, and why would she ever forget? You'll have to hop on the ride to crazy town, a.k.a. Bonhomme Maine, to enjoy the fun, laugh-out-loud insanity that our little village, population 237...can bring. Will it be 238? Only Thyme will tell.About Thyme is the prequel to the Thyme Witch Mysteries series. The books are meant to be read in order for best enjoyment.

Everly is in a rut, bored with her job, her boyfriend, and her life. She gets more excitement than she bargained for, however, when she is invited (summoned, really) to dinner with her enigmatic great-aunt Legoria Thyme. Legoria sends a car to pick Everly up, but before she even makes it to her aunt's house, the car is attacked by creatures out of legend. Everly barely escapes with her life, and now she must keep her wits about her to find out whatever became of her father.

This was utterly confusing. Narrative was choppy, I got no real sense for the characters, and memory spells were cast, which left Everly not recalling things. I believe I was affected as well, because I forgot certain parts, too, until I went back and gave it a quick skim read. For one thing, in the second paragraph of the book, there seems to have been a murder, yet no mention was made of it again. Did it happen and Everly forgot about it, or will it happen in future installments? I have no idea. Another thing that confounded me was that Everly's boring boyfriend was named Jim, and her mother's on-again, off-again boyfriend's name was...Jimmy. Seriously?! I swear, that's the reason I went back and skimmed the story again, because I wasn't sure whose boyfriend Jim(my) was. Turns out, both of them. Oh, not as in it's the same guy, but men with the same name. Ick. At least the editing was fair, and there were a few lines that made me laugh.

Not really a standalone book. More like sample chapters.

Not really a standalone book. More like sample chapters. Just enough to start gaining interest, then it ends abruptly. It might be a good series; but I'm put off by this and hesitant to purchase the next installment in fear that it will again be only a few chapters.

Thyme witch mysteries

Very entertaining introducing some of the characters who will be in future books. Enjoyed this prequel so much I have just bought the other books available and hopefully I won't have to wait too long for more books.

Intro to series

This was a strange story with no real point except to introduce characters that I hope appear in other stories in this series.

Good

This book is one that is just part of a series and it didn't even make you understand what happened.

I had high hopes for this and I’m honestly shocked I didn’t finish it but the whole ending of this pretty much ruined all the expectations I went into this read with. All this story does is introduce some characters, tell us some stuff and is basically bait to buy the second book. The problem there is that since it doesn’t do anything the blurb promised the hook doesn’t really work. I’m definitely not a fan of things being written to force me to buy the next book because they are incomplete. I want the completeness of one part of a story to be structured in such a way I feel compelled to follow the journey not because I have zero choice in the matter. Being forced to do something sucks. And since I actually enjoyed the first half of this for it to slide down the slope so fast in the second half as the book just turned out to be a tease, I’m not interested in reading the second book for the answers I went into this book expecting to find.

This is the first in the series and it captures you from the first page. I was surprised how fast I read it.
Everly Thyme is a very captivating character. Evelyn's life in going nowhere and she has a big secret which is unknown to her. Her aunt invites her to dinner and on the way she is attacked in her car. Gargoyles as well as Evelyn take you to another place in this book. This is part one of a 3 part short story. I recommend this for anyone who would like a short interesting story.

What's next?

Awesome start to the series. Gargoyles, shifters, witches and magic. Sorry not longer but have got book 2 to get into. Fast paced, well written, all in all the whole package. Brilliant

A taster for what could be an interesting series. But, it didn't grab me enough to rush out and get the next book in the series -_-
