My Cup Runneth Over: A Davis Family Novella Book #1

Skylar Jae Mathis trusts no man with her heart. Abused when she was a young girl by her father and beaten down by her many failed relationships, she would rather be alone and on her hustle, than to be with someone who can't appreciate her for the beautiful, independent woman that she is. She's determined to stay happily single, but when Zyon Davis moves in next door, she re-evaluates her vow to stay single. Will he be able to restore her faith in men and break down the barriers around her heart? Most importantly, can he help restore her faith in God? Zyon Davis has been burned by a woman before. He has vowed to never ever love another woman again let alone get involved with one. Feeling the humiliation of being cheated on, he moves to Dallas, Texas in hopes of starting anew. When he meets the lovely Skylar Mathis, he can't help but be intrigued. Even though he can tell she has been hurt before, his entire being yearns to help her heal. But how can he help her when he's been hurt as well? Can they find restoration in each other?

"My Cup Runneth Over" by Janeva Gardel

My Thoughts......

What a beautiful novel that I had the privilege of reading! This was truly a wonderful amazing read of Skylar Mathis and Zyon Davis that seemed from the first time they meet that they were made for each other. I enjoyed how this author was able to bring in the christian faith effect of the read and I especially loved that title: "My Cup Runneth Over" bringing out so many important messages for all to be able to absorb. The reader is only left with knowing that 'true love really does exit and of God's love.' The characters were all very well developed and definitely bringing the reader a believable as well as a relatable read that made one could feel that they knew these people as there was an 'importance of prayer, scripture, forgiveness, restoration, being able to move on for a healthy relationship and finally a HEA.' I will be looking forward to the next story that will deal with Skylar's best friend Zavia and Zyon's brother Xavier in 'Surely Goodness and Mercy Shall Follow Me.'

#TDCW #AuthorJGardel of #QueenLitPub first work definitely kept me wanting just a little bit more. Honestly I was over the insecurities of Skylar because of her mommy and daddy issues. But was and am always relieved to read when a woman has that one true friend that helps her get out of her own way. Kudos to you! It served it's purpose as my mini therapy session. The relationships from character to character were in harmony and there wasn't too many plots that I saw coming. Hence the reason I am patiently waiting on the unrushed part 2. The descriptive measures as they increased throughout, I certainly encourage the same consistent improvement on them with the follow up. You did great on this one as your first in the genre improve on what you've already done and the second one will have #bookclubs jumping for more.

I appreciate your patience in writing and the right amount of drama, it was definitely fitting and not over explained. Thank you for your editing, proof and reproof. Can't wait for part 2, "Surely Goodness and Mercy Shall Follow Me" them brothers and this next twist...

I'm definitely a #FanOfTheAuthor

Great job, author Janeva Gardel! The author’s writing style makes this book an enjoyable read. This story drew me in and refused to let me go until the exciting conclusion. The author does a great job bringing the characters and their surroundings to life, in this story about overcoming and finding love again.

This faith-based novel recounts the love story of Zyon Davis and Skylar Mathis. As I read, it was confirmed once again that loving someone is never as easy as we would like it to be. I could feel the connection between Zyon and Skylar. I found it easy to become embroiled in the their ups and downs - to live out their struggles - and I wanted them to succeed.

The story demonstrates the importance of prayer, Scripture, mentorship, and forgiveness in order to move forward in a “healthy” relationship. While topics such as reconciliation, forgiveness and restoration, ran throughout the story, the very serious issue of dealing with Alzheimer's disease was brought to light through Skylar’s grandmother, MaDear. Further, in the midst of Zyon and Skylar’s trying times, there is budding relationships between Skylar’s friend, Zavia and Zyon’s brother, Xavier. I can’t wait to read their story.

I am looking forward to more from this talented author. Grab your copy. Happy reading.

Beautiful story!

My Cup Runneth Over is a Christian book that packs a really big punch in a novella setting. While a romance novel on the surface is is deeply rooted in forgiveness, healing and restoration of the soul.

Main character Skylar was only seven years old then night her entire life was uprooted and nothing was the same. After losing her mother and father on that night, Skylar is blessed to go live with her grandmother to avoid being lost within the foster system.

When we meet her as an adult, Skylar has had her share of failed relationships and is considering a vow to stay single when Zyon moves next door. There is an instant connection between them but past hurts are on both of their minds. Zyon has moved to Dallas to get a fresh start after he catches his fiancé and his best friend in a lewd act. He too has vowed to never give his heart again until he crosses past with Skylar. While they both have their own trials and tribulations to overcome, they begin to find healing and restoration in one another.

This was a really good read and one that will make you think about what it means to heal and trust God's promise. I highly recommend it.

4.5 stars!

Blessings.

I enjoyed this book. I love how strong their faith was and when God told them something they were obedient. This book touched on family, friendship, healing, grace/mercy, and forgiveness. Most importantly it showed love. After heartbreak, I’m glad both Skylar and Zyon received their happy ending.

The moral of the story is to keep GOD in your life. He won’t steer you wrong. Alexis wasn’t the woman GOD wanted Zyon to spent the rest of his life with. That title belonged to Skylar. They were both broken but time and prayer healed them so they could love each other unconditionally. Their story was beautiful and I enjoyed reading it. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.

A nice read

I’m a romance girly through and through, and this Christian Romance Novella is a really nice read. I could see myself in Skylar and Zyon. God really showed out for them. I’m glad Skylar was able to forgive her momma. It’s always nice reading a story that has minimal drama, minimal cussing, and God at the center of it all.

Couldn’t put it down

It was so refreshing to read a book free of games and drama. This book was simply showing how waiting on God will bring you everything you asked for all we have to do is trust the process.
