MATHadazzles Mind Stretch Puzzles Volume 7: Reasoning Algebraically

Rate this book
MATHadazzles Reasoning Algebraically are intriguing number puzzles that sharpen solver’s logical reasoning and problem solving talents, and put to use knowledge of familiar and not-so- familiar numbers, symbols, and mathematical operations. A MATHadazzle puzzle is a 3-by-3 grid with circles at the ends of the rows and the columns. Some grid cells have clues, given as equations or inequalities, that “describe” the numbers that will fill those cells. The numbers in the circles at the ends of the rows and at the bottoms of the columns are the row and column sums. The solver’s job is to figure out the numbers belong in the cells, so that they “add up!” Contributors to the book were high school students who participated in the NSF-funded App Maker Pro project (#1509105) at Arizona State University.
