I originally got this book to use to create itineraries for several road trips in the desert Southwest, and it was a first class travel guide. I read it this time to more thoroughly read the excellent history passages for each state and city throughout the book. Excellent as either a travel guide (lists noteworthy attractions, lodging, and eateries, by location) or as a history guide.
