Landing your first job as a Software Engineer and beyond: a career guide

This was one of the many questions asked by students at a leading Engineering College. I was invited to deliver a guest lecture at my alma mater and was hoping to share all the latest tech but this question forced me to rethink. There is a greater and deeper issue that needs addressing, once and for all.
This is why I came up with this ready reference. I am hoping that you, the job seeker and a person dreaming of a successful career in the Software industry, will benefit from my experience & learnings, documented in this guide.
I have organized this guide to mirror the natural progression of a successful Software Engineer.
