Lucius Annaeus Seneca (often known simply as Seneca or Seneca the Younger); ca. 4 BC – 65 AD) was a Roman Stoic philosopher, statesman, and dramatist of the Silver Age of Latin literature. I really enjoyed this collection of essays about different topics. Even though they were written a few hundred years ago, I often find things that are still up to date in a way.
Many things could be used today and would lead to a more relaxed life, I guess.
However, you have to think over some statements for a long time and not simply reject it because it sounds so strange to you. It happened to me sometimes that I found a statement bewildering, but when I thought about it over and over again the following days, I realised that there was much truth in it.
Of course you don’t have to like everything he says, I don’t do that either. But I think that some of his advice can improve your life.

Didn't gain any new insights into stoicism, so it was a chore to get through it all. At the same time the inaccesible language doesn't make it a good starter for people new to stoicism. Rating is not reflecting the text itself and its content, it just reflects how much I got out of it.
