You never really know the person you've married... until it's too late.

Pregnant heiress Carmen Winters goes into shock when she comes home to find her husband hanging from a chandelier. Her immediate thoughts concern whether she should snap a photo for social media.

As she gathers her wits, she begins to question the events surrounding her husband's death, and suspect that her estranged sister was the last person to see him alive. Carmen's quest to understand the suicide is complicated by her difficult pregnancy and aggressive advances from her late husband's best friend.

Determined to soldier through the tragedy, Carmen soon discovers information about her husband that makes her realize her entire life was a lie...

Book 2:

Carmen Winters has already lost so much. Now, she is beyond terrified as she stands to lose the one thing that gave her hope for a better future.

She knows that she can pull through her physical and psychological difficulties, if only someone would stand by her. But with her father and sister occupied with their own struggles in another state, she has no family she can lean on. Her only options are to turn to Brad, a ruthless lawyer mainly concerned with dollar signs, or Owen, a kind doctor with a jealous and spiteful long-term girlfriend.

With or without help from the frustrating men in her life, Carmen will have to find the strength inside herself to carry on. She must make one final journey to say goodbye to her husband once and for all, and lay the past to rest forever.

But when Carmen uncovers startling information about what really led to her husband's death, everything changes...

Book 3:

Just when things were looking up, the universe has found a way to kick Carmen Winters in the teeth. A shocking revelation fills her with unbridled wrath and she is determined to bring justice to her family. She finds a devoted ally in Dr. Owen Phillips, until the soft-hearted doctor begins to feel that she's going too far. He tries to pull her back from the brink of insanity by encouraging her to visit her sister and spend some time relaxing and recovering in a peaceful cabin in the woods, but Carmen can't slow down.

The Winters family has suffered enough. Determined to take charge of her life and secure her happy ending, Carmen will do whatever it takes to make sure their lives will be smooth sailing from this point onward.

This book is about Helen, a blind writer. After experiencing a violent assault while at college, Helen isolates herself in a cabin in the middle of no where.

The books are incredibly fast paced, and exquisitely written. I have had a few blind friends in the past which is part of what makes this book so fascinating to me, her descriptions of the world around her and the people she encounters is so interesting because not only is she blind, she has never been able to see... so she doesn't even have a concept of colors. Perfect plot details and character development. I love Liam and Owen, they had me laughing out loud.

Great cliffhanger and huge twist at the end of the first one... with twists and turns that make you keep reading page after page... book after book!!!!

YAY for incredibly talented authors that write novels that suck you into their world!!!

I would recommend these books to anyone!

Read these in authors order!

Amazing set of books. The author said to read the sets of books in a certain order. So I did and it was the best way to read them. These books are about live and loss and how to deal with things that happen....it's such a great set of books you need to read them in her order!

I tried to reread this set of books in January 2025 and I couldn't get into it. Not sure why.
