This authoritative civil engineering reference is dedicated to the avoidance error by manner, the many unexpected happenings which can occur despite great care and attention being paid to accept methods of calculation and construction.
Some of the info in this book was a bit over my head despite being a pretty technical person myself. The parts that I could really follow were interesting though. I liked the "lessons learned" format; instead of just a lot of dry theory, there were real world problems, often caused by something as simple as an incorrect measurement. recommended to anyone interested in engineering.
