This is the story of a girl named Amira who must leave her country with her family when war breaks out. She comes to the United States where she gets a new home and goes to new school where she meets new classmates and learns a new language. This easy reader is a great introduction to the immigrant/ refugee experience for young children. It explores the topic in an easy-to-understand manner and in age appropriate language.

This book is about a little girl who left her country and came to the United States with her family to escape the war. Her classmates help her learn English and she teaches them her language. Great book overall.
