After fleeing civil war and spending a decade in desolate refugee camps, two hundred Somali Bantu refugees find themselves living in Boise, Idaho. "Resettled" recounts the challenges of refugee resettlement through the eyes of a volunteer who spent seven years helping many of them adjust to life in the United States. ( This book includes some material previously published in " A Memoir.")One hundred percent of the profits from the sale of "Resettled" are donated to organizations that support refugees and Somali Bantu communities.
This is a fascinating book of reaching out to an immigrant community in Boise, Idaho. The people the author meets and works with are real, and Stephanie Larson brings so much light to their life and struggles. I came away feeling compassion and I truly care how they are each doing today. This should be required reading for anyone involved in the refugee issues of the present time.
