No matter what your day brings, these 3-minute, grace-filled inspirations are guaranteed to be just the pick-me-up you need in your faith walk.
Choose Grace is a good devotional if you are short on time. The devotions are very short and easy to read. I really liked the book, but I would have preferred it to not quote the MSG Bible so much. Just something I didn't like, but it wasn't a big deal.
Overall, a great devotional.
*I received a complimentary eBook copy of this book for my honest review. As always, all thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.*
This was a timely read for me as I am involved in a Bible study whose topic is grace. These short (3 minute reads) are designed for women, but men would certainly benefit from them.
Each one opens with a scripture written out and referenced. Then the short devotion follows. A written prayer ends the selection. Each part of the structure works with the other. Sometimes, I have read devotions where the referenced scripture and the devotion itself do not seem to have anything in common. That is not the case in Choose Grace: 3-Minute Devotions for Women. Also, each scripture referenced has the translation used. I for one like to know the translation used.
Since each devotion has three parts, I would think the idea is to spend a minute meditating on each part. Thus, 3-minute devotions. I have quite a few highlighted sections in my copy and have shared several quotes from the book with my Bible study.
I did not count how many devotions there are, but I did notice that each one was titled. For example “Blessing Others,” “Sound Advice,” “Alone time with God.” It would be nice if there was a table of contents listing these, so that if a topic catches your eye it could be found easily. Perhaps that could be included for a future edition. There is a handy index in the back of the book which has all the referenced scripture.
I would recommend this book. I received a free copy of the book from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review. Thank you.
I was able to read Choose Grace: 3 Minute Devotions for Women for free from Netgalley, the publisher and the author for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review. The book is true to its title, if we just take 3 minutes a day we are able to devote that time to find Grace, be more focused, be encouraged and refresh our souls from the day to day. Each devotion has a title, a scripture, a quick summary of the scripture and a prayer. These devotions are quick and easy to read and understand. This book was a joy to read and review. This books will help you learn/remember that Grace is receiving the gift we do not deserve. I hope for the future the book can be updated and include a table of content to reference as list of the topics discussed
Some of the devotions may even take less than 3 minutes to read (I timed myself!) – the verses and prayers can be so short! However, that doesn't mean you actually take just 3 minutes (or less) to communicate with God or think about His Word...No matter how busy we are, with the help of this book, we can take a word or a phrase and think about it thoughout the day...even meditate on it..or say a quick prayer even if it is just “help!“
Thank you Netgalley and Barbour for this review copy. This is my honest opinion, and sorry it took so long!
3 minutes is all that is needed to read a daily devotional to read, think and hopefully exude some Grace in our daily life to others. The devotionals may be be short, but they pack a punch. As a fan of devotionals, I must say this book is a must have. Thanks to NetGalley, the author and the publisher for the ARC of this book in return for my honest review.
