An easy read full of tidbits and advice for writers. It covers a wide range of topics and pairs them with easy to understand examples. A section talking about famous authors with learning difficulties/dyslexia was particularly inspiring. Would definitely recommend this book for authors just starting out (and even established ones) who are overwhelmed by the writing advice out there and just want to learn enough to get them started on their writing journey.

Practical Tips for Every Author, A Helpful Guide for the Practicing Author by Steve Soderquist is a comprehensive yet concise collection of writing wisdom, hard won over his many years as a writer, editor, and publisher. It covers all the basics of English language rules, but does it in a breezy style that is fun to read. Craft books run the risk of turning the art of writing into a mechanical formula more suited to an engineering class. This book keeps the reader turning pages with useful tips delivered with quips and anecdotes that are spot on and clever. The author also covers the structure of the novel, editing, the query, marketing and much more.

He also understands the writer’s journey from beginner to published author and offers support and encouragement. When you finish Practical Tips for Every Author, you know you can succeed as a writer and you’ll have the tools to do so.
