This is a gem of a book.
Short plot summary: Enter Adrian a writer of fairy tales, who lives a quiet life in the country. He sits in his not so well kempt, but beautiful garden and suddenly there is a loud whirring and then a thump. Slowly he goes to the disturbance and lo and behold there, in a rather high patch of meadow sits a small steamroller with delicate wings.
The little steamroller's name is Lavendel and she loves to eat fairy tales.
The story writer and Lavendel start up an unlikely but very amusing friendship. They explore the beauty of showering, of birthday presents, fibbing your down to earth neighbor and dancing with midges. And they need to face the narrow minded reaction of other people to something as beautiful and magical as a delicately winged steamroller and her Fairytale-writer.
