This is the fourth in the Kindred series, preceded by Kindred Stories, Kindred Mischief, and Kindred Angels. You can find out more by visiting KindredAvenue.com...
I got an ARC of this book. This is my honest review. Let me go on record as saying that I am not an expert in literature. That being said, this book is weird and I don't like it. It is a series of shorts where the lamp posts are the characters. I kept trying to imagine that the stories were funny or insightful, but I couldn't get past the utter absurdity that is this book. Maybe I'm the sort of person that only understands the concrete and realistic rather than the whims of inanimate objects, but I read books about wizards and dragons that are more plausible than this. So, I don't like it. I find it dumb. But if this is your sort of thing, it might be an excellent read. Got to go. My coffee maker is calling me.
This is a nice, dreamy, book, illustrated with lamp post photos. I know that seems a little odd, but the book has an original approach and I think it is very well done. It is subtle but not superficial. The narrative is well written. I can't describe the book well. Sorry about that. It's a Goodreads giveaway for me and I want to provide an accurate review but all that comes to my mind is that I am very glad to have received it and read it and hope you will enjoy it also.
Very interesting a series of perspectives from lamp post and one man's relationship to them. It was a bit unusual reading for me, but I am surprised how much I liked this book. It's surreal, but not so much that one gets lost in confusion or tired from the weight of the ideal. It is a great book. I am so very glad I won this from Good Reads. LOVED IT!
I won this book on Goodreads. Quirky book about what lamp post would say and feel if they were able to do so..Would of been better as a photo book about different styles of lamp post instead of trying to make a story type book out of it.
Goodreads Giveaway Book - What a cute idea! It never would have occurred to me that lamp posts can have their own personalities and quirks. I may never be able to just walk by a lamp post again without wondering about his story, her name or age. On future trips I may be taking lots of pictures of lamp posts to document other lighting families and their family trees.
