Jen's group are back, still playing fate with human lives, but what about the Deadliners themselves?
With a negative spirit still building an army against them and their detector apparently moving on, the team race against time to complete their biggest mission yet. Save as many lives as possible from a tsunami. The group are about to face their toughest lesson since dying: Death
Rachel Medhurst grew up in a small village in Surrey, England. She writes to inspire and heal. She lives in the British countryside with her dog. If she’s not writing, she can be found walking in nature and reading. The third installment in the Deadliner Series, keeps the same cast as book 2, which is a nice change of pace - you get to see them with bonds that are already in place, yet still developing. In this book there is less about the lessons each spirit and/or deadliner needs to learn when they are put into crisis mode over a coming tsunami.
What I liked: seeing old characters again, the idea that special circumstances can call for special occasions and even the antics of a 5 yr old hissy fit that I felt was LONG over-due. What I struggled with: If you have read the previous 2 books in the series you know that Amy is special, she is stronger than the others and has more "powers" as she starts to realize this, she begins practicing with her new powers for the battle to come. Apparently Jen has extra powers too, but they are just there and she just seems to automatically know how to use them. In addition Amy's power when used almost wipes out her energy yet Jen's energy supply seem limitless.
Still an enjoyable read, kept me entertained but I felt that the ending was a bit rushed, almost like the deadline snuck up on her and she huried to get it completed.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. I had already read the previous two books in this series and this third addition didn't disappoint. The idea is that there are deadliners, spirits there to guide us, not only helping us over when we die but they are there to help us resolve issues before we die too. A brilliant concept that translates well onto paper.
In this book new and old characters come together to face their biggest battle whilst secretly facing their own issues as well. I've loved all of the characters throughout these stories and the banter between the new and old deadliners was spot on. It ended perfectly because there were no disastrous cliffhangers but there is the option left to write another book if wanted.
I highly recommend this series. It is fast paced, witty and has plenty of twists and turns. Get reading.
