James Denney (1856 – 1917) was a Scottish theologian and preacher. He is probably best known today for his theological articulation of the meaning of the atonement within Christian theology, atonement for him being “the most profound of all truths”.
Why do more people not read James Denney? He is the one of the greatest theologians of the Christian Church, and probably one of the most unknown. The Church suffers loss for not knowing about Denney. Denney understands the heart of the gospel probably better than any theologian there is. Every paragraph is a book. I plead with the Body of Christ to discover this little-known theological Great Heart.
