I read this collection as part of a creative writing class. The poems are "slender" as described in the foreword but they pack so much into them. These poems are about women, girls, mothers, daughters, fathers, loss, death, change, some hope.

Some lines I liked:

"my grandfather
will have come down from above
and be at the head of the casket;
finally walking his little girl down the aisle" pg. 13

"we will drive until the moon balloons
to just past perfect for a night like this" pg. 14 (I wrote a poem inspired by these lines)

"two young girls
too young girls" pg. 16

"desperate for affection
the windows stay open
i stay open" pg. 70

"your love--the only thing
i refuse to keep" pg. 71
