My cousin, Steve, and I have toyed with a theory the biggest part of our lives. We were both adopted (me at 2 months of age and he at 9 months). We've often discussed the fact that it seems that adoptees can become emotionally detached from relationships easier than children who develop bonding with their biological mothers. Disclaimer alert! I have no psychological evidence to back this up! As I stated, it's a theory. I've often referred to the ability to detach oneself from others as "flipping the switch", and that's where the title came from. I realize the story line here is darker than my previously published story, Moments. But I hope the theme of GOD'S redeeming love and grace shines through the darkness, as it has in my own life. GOD bless you, dear readers! RC
