This is an interesting story with colorful illustrations. When a kingdom is invaded, the prince is kidnapped and held captive. Lots of drama and tension in this one. Great story of hope and help from surprising sources. Highly recommended for Grades 3-5.

Okay, I don't understand why the parents a) had to leave, b) didn't bring their son, and c) LEFT HIM IN CHARGE OF THE ENTIRE KINGDOM? No consort? No advisor or Merlin figure to ease the transition? Sheesh, and I thought my 6th period was rough.

Other than obvious neglect, this was cute - the red-pajama royal gets kidnapped, gets by with a little help from his subjects, doesn't learn his lesson and gets captured again, escapes, gets cornered a lot, re-escapes, then finally seems to comprehend the error of his ways and goes back to governing his people. Actually, when you put it like that, this maybe doesn't have the best message for kiddos. BUT! The illustrations are *fire* and its truly not that objectionable.

When a young prince is captured by invaders he is thrown into a dungeon. As he tries to escape in his red pajamas he finds himself in the middle of the forest with a long way to get back home and the invaders on his tail. He soon learns that he finds friends that are willing to help him get back. As the prince tries to get back the whole town comes to his rescue.

This book had a sweet ending. It brings froward courage and a daring escape.

I think any student would enjoy reading this book. I would give this to a student who loves an adventure.
