Teacher empowerment through curriculum development: Theory into practice

Rate this book
The aim of this book is to empower teachers to become agents of curriculum change, which in turn enables them to make a positive contribution toward the development and transformation of education. It subscribes to the premise that empowered teachers have to possess certain curriculum knowledge and skills. Topics covered include the issue of empowerment of the teacher as a curriculum agent, curriculum studies as a field of study, the process of curriculum development, and successful curriculum implementation. This book is targeted specifically at South African education, which faces tremendous challenges-several of which relate to curriculum development.

In contrast with Slattery's Curriculum Development in the Postmodern Era, I found this dry - wintery ,difficult to follow with my short attention span.However- have persevered and it is truly worthwhile. Were it an apple it would have none of the glow, lustre and juice of Slattery's fruit. Nonetheless, each dull bite is jammed with wisdom and practical how-to.
