Fifteen-year-old Maxwell Stone has been surviving and thriving in the tough part of East Vancouver by being smart and fast. But when a drug deal goes wrong, Max suddenly finds himself on the run from both the bad guys and the cops. Desperate to escape, Max impulsively decides to hop on a moving freight train. His first attempt to climb aboard fails, but at the last second a hand reaches down and pulls him in. Joseph has been riding the rails for years, and his tales inspire Max to take a journey to the last place he ever expected to go.

I’m a high school librarian and decided to read this one to recommend to my students. Wasn’t expecting to like it so much! Great story! Gritty and real, this story is also encouraging to those on the wrong side of the tracks.

This adventure combines 3 generations and fulfills experience, desire and the fear a mother experiences when a 15 yr old son announced he planned on riding the rails!

I think this book is very hooking and very interesting. This is a good book for kids in high school because it is about a kid and it could relate to you.
