"Given the magnitude and importance of this event [the Great Depression], it is surprising how little we know about its causes." ―Peter Temin Did Monetary Forces Cause the Great Depression? challenges Friedman’s “money hypothesis” and sharply criticizes many features of the Keynesian “spending hypothesis.”
Peter Temin was an economist and economic historian, serving as the Gray Professor Emeritus of Economics at MIT, where he was formerly the head of the Economics Department.
A dry read with an uncertain conclusion. If it was any longer I would have given it 2 stars. If I had read Friedman and Schwartz first it may have been better.
