Mrs. B Goes To The Sea

Katy and Mom are going with Mrs. Bumbleberry to visit her sister, Miss Eunice. Miss Eunice lives by the ocean. During their visit Katy meets a little girl named Lydia. She and Lydia become friends while they build sand castles and collect shells. Katy also discovers there are daily blessings to be found if she takes the time to look for them.

I was really pleased to receive this book from #Goodreads because it was such a lovely book to read to my grandchildren and has become a firm favourite on my bookshelf.
What a pleasure to read a book to the children that included the many blessings that happened in the storyline about a visit to the beach.
The story gave many opportunities for discussion with the children on a variety of topics and we really enjoyed the family time spent together.
Really wonderful book that was well enjoyed.

This was a cute book explaining how the ocean & tide works.

I read this to my six year old daughter.

She liked the subject matter (the beach) and the characters Katy and Lydia. She enjoyed the pictures and the story. She did not understand the moon-and-Earth-turning explanation given by Miss Eunice about high tide and low tide, nor the statement "God brings the ocean back up to the beach".

The story does provide a few interestingly told facts about protecting sand dunes and the sound made from a conch shell. But overall the story is saccharine.
